As a very seasoned travelers, I will say that we're very easy going. Hotel experience generally fades into the background of the whole picture unless something noteworthy pulls it forward. Astonishing, really that this time we're driven to write a review to throw out a flag to other travelers, when in 20 years, we have never made a stink. During a drive from Oregon to Jackson WY we decided to take the extra hour and a half to drive to Ketchum/Sun Valley so we could enjoy a quiet hotel and Sunday morning at our favorite breakfast spot. Through a google search we found this hotel and called for reservations. There was one room with a king available for around $140-, so we assumed this was a fairly decent place to be priced thus during the resort "off season". We booked it with assurances that we could arrive late.
The hotel is in a decent location in Ketchum, and the gentleman at the front desk was the best thing the hotel had going.
The room was outdated and cavernous, the bed fairly flat, and the pillows consisted of what appeared to be four very small square sofa pillows with two cases. The television had no remote, and very poor sound. The bathroom was supplied with two anemic overwashed bath towels, two hand towels and two washcloths, and the only real indication we could find that some attempt was being made to raise the standard of this place - quite nice spa-like shower gels (1 small bottle for 2 people) and some face cream samples.
After a late arrival following several long days of travel, our hopes of sleeping late (indicated also by the privacy tag we hung on the door - a rarity for us) were dashed with the first shift of housekeepers calling up and down the hallway about their day yesterday, running vacuums up and down the hallway, and while cleaning the room next to ours, repeatedly crashing the vacuum againsed the wall. It felt like visiting your relatives that wake up at 5:00 and bang around the house to throw hints that it's time to wake up. Because this went on, and on, long beyond the time it would naturally take to vacuum a room or hallway, it became clear that it was a sort of coreographed rousting technique - shortly after 8:00 (check out time was 11:00). Several calls to the front desk went unanswered - the only way we could speak to someone about it was to go to the desk, request the manager, and have to speak with him in front of a group of other guests who were having coffee, which was very embarrassing. The manager had absolutely no interest in putting forth any more effort in addressing the issue than it took to endure the time of my Husband's complaint with a blank face. The reason for this review is because the only explanation we received was that this philosophy of housekeeping is their policy... intimating that housekeeping is far more important than their guests. Once they have your credit card, it feels like they simply could not care less.
With the exception of the evening attendant and the shower gel, absolutely nothing about this hotel is special, or worth the price. If you go to Ketchum, do yourself a favor and keep looking. There are great places that will lend to an experience worth the wonderful town... and that will lend to your ability to sleep a little past 8:00 on a Sunday morning if your vacation calls for it. Motel 6 would honestly be an improvement.

Im sorry to hear of your review. It doesnt sound like this hotel, who has been awarded by Best Western International 3 (three) BEST OF THE BEST awards.Nominated recently for a 4th in Customer care. Who also is in the top 5% of Best Westerns at this time. The hotel has received 1 of the awards in Quality(Cleanliness and for providing quality to the guest) ,2nd in Design(for exceptional design and aesthetics),Using River rock, custom log furniture in the rooms, granite counter tops, also has started to triple sheet, has a heavier weighted towel, all rooms have a sm microwave/refridgerator bar area in each room, and with wireless internet too .Thirdly,a Customer Care award, for dedication to guest service. I'm sorry to hear you feel that we bang the vacumn around to roust our guests. This is not our philosophy. This is one reason we have the housekeepers start later,at 9am . We do care about our guests.
