We spent 4 nights at the Tyrolean Lodge and just wanted to let others know what a nice place it was. We were on the second floor at the end of the hall (very quiet) in room 264. The Lodge is located within walking distance of both downtown Ketchum and the River Run ski area, and the free buses stop right at the parking lot entrance so you can ride if you don't feel like walking.
The rooms were a nice size, bedding very comfortable, bathroom newly remodeled with tub and shower. In room safe and coffee maker and racks for your skis and snowboards to keep them off the floor were a plus. They have a heated pool and large jacuzzi tub outside and inside a dry sauna, guest laundry room, small workout room, game room with pool table and a very nice complimentary breakfast that included pastries, a variety of cereals, hardboiled eggs, juices, toast, bagels, tea, cocoa, coffee and fresh fruit. Plenty to fill you up and get you up on the slopes without wasting time in a restaurant!
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful - let me use their office computer to print out our return boarding passes and let us store our bags in a locked area while we went to town one last time before it was time to catch a cab back to Sun Valley Airport. By the way, A-1 Taxi will take two people from the airport to the Tyrolean Lodge for $41.

We actually left a day early, didn't care if we lost money or not. The rooms are outdated and clearly need some attention. My back hurt so bad from the bed....my husband and I both were 'sinking into the middle'.

I will say, it is secluded and quiet. If you are lucky, you will have a view of the mountain, at least you will see it when you arrive.

I just was not overly impressed with the room at all.

However, I will say that you must eat at the PIONEER SALOON.....EXCELLENT STEAK, and try the smoked trout appetizer.

And Cristiana's for breakfast...pricey but excellent food.

My husband and I travel to Sun Valley, ID every other Thanksgiving weekend to get away. We have stayed at a few condos in Ketchum and this time the Tyrolean Lodge was the least expensive place for us to stay. I knew we were going to be close to the River Run base but I was not aware of how close. We were also very close to old town Ketchum. It was extremely convenient since we did not rent a car.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great place to stay when visiting Sun Valley, ID. The hotel staff was accommodating to our needs at all time. It was also nice to have a continental breakfast right down stairs.
When booking your room make sure you request a room with a view of the mountain. It is breathtaking!!!
Thanks!

When looking for a quick weekend getaway from Boise, I ended up here. The location is prime. Tucked away near the base of Baldy, this hotel is within walking distance of downtown Ketchum but isolated enough to feel like you're actually in the mountains. I came in w/out reservations & the front desk was able to get me a room for $85/night. What other people describe as "Austrian charm" struck me as old, worn, & dated. Looked like a 70s ski lodge. The room was OK. The sliding patio door led to a 2' community balcony. Essentially, you could walk down to anyone's backdoor. That doesn't do much for privacy or safety for that matter. When I was bored one night, I decided to get a workout in. Their "gym" was an old treadmill, a worn down elliptical, & a bench w/ 5,10, 15 pound weights. All this crammed in a little room. I passed & headed to the game room. It was a pool table & 3 video games from 80s....again crammed in a little room. I decided not to even look for the sauna or pool. Honestly, it was a cheap hotel & a cheap price. But the staff was not unfriendly & the room was clean. If you're looking to spend most of your time outside of the room, it's a fine value. If you're looking for something more modern or comfortable, head up the road to Tammarack Lodge.

We stayed at the Tyrolean Lodge for one night whilst on a roadtrip holiday. The Tyrolean Lodge is in a lovely location and we had put a request in when booking for a view of the mountains and we arrived to a lovely second floor room looking out at the Baldi mountain. Having stayed in Austria a few times, this hotel is an intriguing combination of Austrian charm and American hospitality.

The room was nicely furnished with a fantastic king bed and plenty of room. The wi-fi was free and quick. The bathroom seemed quite recently fitted out and the shower area was huge. We used both the pool and hot tub which share a lovely mountain view. Breakfast was in a bright large room with plenty of options of things to toast, fruit, cereal etc.

The only negative was if you are on the second floor, it can be quite hard work with heavy luggage, as there are various stairs along the corridors as well as the main stairs.

We dined at the Roosevelt Grille in the centre of town which we would definitely recommend - the fish was sublime!
