My friend and I went to ketchum for the first time from Chicago to attend a wedding. After reading so many shady reviews we were un sure of our choice. When we arrived we couldnt believe the view as the hotel is at the base of a lovely mountain which is also the ski mountain. We checked in and the staff was beyond friendly and helpful with checkin in and suggesting places to visit during our stay. It is an older building and there are no elevators which was okay with us as were in our 20's. But it has a 'Tyrol' theme and is very cottage like. Lots of woodwork, and tyrol based paintings and posters. I read on one of the reviews that the decor they used was like something from a dollar store..... not at all, its "themed" and therefor it has a different herritage behind it and we understood that and appreciated the different decorations. (which were hand painted and quite amazing and unique at that) They ARE pet friendly and we had no problems what so ever with registering our pet and when we asked the staff, they explained they have to keep in mind people have allergies to pets and have to designate some rooms where no pets are to be which mostly included the suites. We thought that was nice of them as my sister has bad allergies and this has been a issue for us when traveling together before. We had a second floor room and it was set up very nice and the beds were SO COMFORTABLE I slept like a baby. Our balcony over looked the pool but just around the corner, you could see the amazing mountain view. We were expecting to overlook some trailer park by what we had seen in some reviews, but the only thing we saw was the mountain, pool and some appartments, or possibly condos....which were not intolerable to look at in any way, when considering just a few steps around the corner...we saw the mountain. The housekeeping staff is very helpful and they do a wonderful job at keeping up. Our room had just had new carpet installed. We had noticed there were some patches where carpet in lobby areas and stairs had been stained, but we kept in mind these were probably high traffic areas. Breakfast was very good, I have stayed at best westerns who had updated high tech equipment but I enjoyed it all very much and they had a great variety and again the staff who I had no problem communicating with was very friendly and beyond helpful. All and all, we found prices in this entire area were pretty high, and when we checked prices of other hotels this Best Western was the cheapest we could find, as I said before we were skeptical from the reviews but after our visit here we feel we hit a gold mine. We have no complaints of this establishment and in fact while we were there, we reserved a suite over Christmas for a family ski trip. We cant wait to go again it was amazing and I, no WE highly reccomend this hotel to anyone.
If on the back side, walk around the front of the building for an amazing view. Friendliest and most...
