“Awesome steaks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

Delicious food, great servers, the food is worth the wait. It's my husband's favorite place for a giant steak! We go here for special occasions ;)

“You kind of have to stop in here when in town....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

Most of our group had never been here before. We arrived at 4:50 and they begin seating for dinner at 5:30. we had a few beers in the bar with complimentary chips and salsa. as soon as it was time they sat us all down. Lots of choices, lots of beef. We all ordered beef and one person upgraded to the baked potato which i warned him would be huge. It is an Idaho #1 potato, in Idaho which is hard to find, really. Service was great, food was great, but the steaks were all ordered to medium and mine was really very medium rare and another was very vary rare and should have gone back but he didn't. the flavors were great and the rice was excellent. A great place to stop in at if your first time to Sun Valley / Ketchum.

“PIO continues to please”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Took the family out 2 nights ago to the Pioneer Saloon, a Ketchum/Sun Valley landmark. You haven't been to SV unless you have eaten here. Food was great, especially the beef ribs (nearly half a cow), and the drinks are large and fairly priced. Don't forget to order the MEGA Idaho baked potato. Bar was packed, as usual, and the home made "FREE" chips and salsa were a hit. Dining room is a bit cramped, but you really do not notice. It is a cowboy atmosphere, for sure, pardner. When in this part of Idaho, be sure to at least wet your whistle here.

“It is steak, good steak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

This place is an institution, has a reputation, draws a crowd (wait times are long), but it is worth a stop if this is your first or only time in Sun Valley.

“Rustic fun place for a steak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Pioneer is kind of small, but has a great bar area, so expect it to be a little loud and a little cramped. It is a simple menu, with no kids fare, but the steaks are pretty good. I do not think it is worth a long wait, but if you have some time to kill, and want an old ski town type of meal, it's a good place to try. Service is also good, and they get you in and out pretty quick, so don't expect a long and lingering meal.
