“A great meal at a great price in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

The Pioneer Saloon has been a perennial favorite of ours since the 60s. The secret to their success is a good steak for a good price. The staff is very friendly and helpful even when the restaurant and bar are absolutely full. The decor is old west with cowboy movie posters, rifles and cartridges, and beautiful trophies on the walls. The menu is varied, if you are planning a hike the next day, a full cut prime rib with a box for left overs gives you a roast beef sandwich for the trail. The trout, not always on the printed menu, is wonderful. The wine list is good with bottles for every budget.

“Pleasant place to eat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

Neat little place to get a decent meal. Array of fresh fish, steaks, chops, etc. good fresh bread. Perhaps a tad pricy - however you are in sun valley

“An Attraction”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

It's a great restaurant with old west atmosphere, good food, and a fun bar to wait in. No reservations, but it's worth the wait. The menu is varied so that my favorite meal tends to change with the season or the mood. You'll never go wrong with the Prime Rib, a half cut is usually big enough for the heartiest appetite. The mud pie for dessert is usually big enough for the entire table. It's a local favorite, and the reason is that it's always consistent, and a fun night out.

“Friendly place”

We enjoyed the free chips and salsa here. It is visually entertaining to take in all the western themed decor.

“A local favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

The Pioneer is a tradition in Ketchum. It is always crowded and since they don't take reservations, plan to do a lot of drinking in the bar before your dinner. The dinner portions are huge; you will need a doggy bag.
