“A very confusing place to book, a bad place to stay”

Red Lion Hotel on the Falls

Okay so now we're on the road, it's getting late, been driving 13+ hours outta' Canada, hotels are filling up fast. VOILA! Red Lion at the Falls has a room. Check the book...hmmmmm....good reviews. BONUS we're soooo there, and I'm sooooo wasted from driving. Uh-oh there seem to be two distinct parts of this place. The Tower gives it it's contemporary appeal, but that's not where our room is (?) We're set-up in a different building across the lot, in back of the pool area. In a space which looks oddly like the "motels" that 70's porn movies were shot in .......in southern California perhaps. This is a bad place fer' sure. Ground floor (so at least we don't have to worry about falling through the ceiling!) Everything here is grossly outdated. The wall controls for the lamps, TV, radio, laser ray gun are immediately recognized (along with the dark stains on the drab green shag carpet) as set designs from "Deep Throat" -the Original, I think........ Loud, no soundproofing, dirty, dingy rooms (bath & bed) , mattresses sagging both to the middle AND outside (how does that work???) Under $100 for a king size standard room, ranks up there with the worst $100 I ever spent, but hey I was tired. I wasn't thinking clearly........Don't make the same mistake that I made. Roll your window down......Keep driving!

I was surprised to realize that the pictures on line are not the true rooms that you get. They are remodeling the building and the rooms are about 40 years old. the mattress was in poor shape and the bathroom had mold around the tub....The lights shine into your room at night as well. I think they were very misleading in their advertising...

“Unacceptable”

Red Lion Hotel on the Falls

Oct 23, 2006

This Hotel is a joke. I was told when I booked the room that we would be "up in the Tower with a view of the Falls."
Instead we got a handicapped room on the second floor with a view of the back of Applebees.
The carpet was beyond disgusting, the shower was only for handicapped people and we had to sit on the floor to wash our hair. The general upkeep of the hotel is horrible. When I tried to use the 24 hour fitness center and hot tub, I was told by security that I "better head back to my room" if I did not want to get a noise complaint since I was upset that the hot tub was not open and it was 1:00 in the morning. Then when they admited that the Hot tub was acutally broken I realized I had been taken by Red Lion on this trip
There was a bachelorette party going on next door and they made so much noise that I had to complain about them, this was never taken care of.
We left the next morning and saw the Falls for the first time, it would have been nice to get the room I was promised because the falls are nice.

The gentleman that helped us when we checked in Friday night was very curt and when we asked if we could see another room we were told the hotel was full and the room we were in was our only choice. This place sucks !!!!!!!

“great hotel!”

Red Lion Hotel on the Falls

I have stayed at the red lion many times before. It has great service and beautiful rooms in the tower. If you book your rooms online you get put in the pool side rooms. They are not as nice as the tower rooms. The beds in the tower are amazing. I sleep like a baby there. Last time i was there i was informed that they have just gone under new ownership and the whole hotel (including poolside) will be completely renovated. It will be exciting to see what it will be. I love the location. Beautiful view of the falls.

“Great stay in Idaho!”

We had a lovely 2-night stay at the Red Lion in Idaho Falls last week. The hotel has friendly staff, spacious, comfortable rooms (fridge, coffee, microwave) and a lovely view of the adjacent falls and walking trail. The wireless connection was a little spotty on the upper floor but was free and worked great in the lobby. The orange-cranberry scones at the hotel restaurant were heavenly! I would definitely stay there again and use Idaho Falls as a base from which to see much of Idaho.
