After our stay in a Lake House across the street from this beautiful, historic mansion we decided to treat ourselves for our last night's dinner at The Clark House. We were seated by Mark, the owner in the old office, a nice separate room. Unfortunately the service and the food went downhill from there. Monique, our waitress was forgetful, curt and in-attentive. We had to get up to pour our own water and wine and for the price the food was at best "just fair". The steak was tough and the chicken dry.
The restaurant includes a 20% gratuity on every check, regardless of the number of people at a table. Maybe this is why the wait staff lacks an incentive to treat guests well. We left rather disappointed.
