“Very nice hotel with helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

Lovely hotel in LIDO, right on the beach, next to the Hotel Excelsior. Great choice if you want to spend couple days in Venice and avoid the crowded centre - it takes less than 20 minutes to get to San Marco. The vaporetto from the Lido island is regular and takes you to San Marco or other islands. Hotel offers modern and clean rooms, ask for the corner room with balcony and seaview. Great choice for breakfast and lovely staff, especially Marco, the manager. If you would like to stay at the beach, be aware that you have to book "cabbana" from the Excelsior hotel, which could be expensive, but the Petit Palais has some discount. This hotel is highly recommended.

Room Tip: ask for corner room with a seaview and balcony - 2nd or 3th floor

Nice modern fixtures and clean. Generally friendly staff. However, a remote control was not in my room when I arrived. Staff quickly brought me a new one, but English language news channels were not available, despite instructions indicating their availability. Air conditioning is controlled individually, and makes the room comfortable if it runs long enough.
Good breakfast with standard selection and a friendly server who anticipated my cappuccino order after she remembered it from the previous day.
I would stay here again, as it is a bit liberating to be a bit cut off from the English news.
Also, the in room wireless was broken when I checked in, but the staff let us use WiFi free in the lobby. When WiFi was repaired the next day, I got another few hours for free. As I travel for business, I would prefer, however, that WiFi be provided "free" in the room. Even if the cost is included inthe room price, it would be preferable to hourly increments.

For those who want a real relaxing and tranquil time in Venice, the island of Lido is a real gem, just a short trip on a water bus to Piazza San Marco. We asked for a waterfront room and got a nice large terrace facing the sea. The view was magnificent.
As previously mentioned by many, the beach does not belong to the property. Don't know how much of an issue this would be during the season, but at the time of our travel the weather was not warm enough to find out.
The hotel does not have a parking, street parking during daytime is limited by one hour, but since we were there somewhat off-season, it was not difficult to park for 3 days on the small public lot 100 yards from hotel entrance at no charge.
The staff was very friendly, professional, and helpful, especially on the night of our arrival. Very good experience overall.

Stayed for one week in this hotel. At first had a very dark room with tiny window but got a change. View is not good unless you book the extra cost rooms. The hotel does not have a beach itself but the expensive Excelsior beach is available next door or cheaper options further up. There is no bar or restaurant to speak of in the htoel in case you have the idea of any nightlife and the active centre is about 45 mins walk away. If you are looking for a quite sedate hotel whcih is clean and socialble then its fine. The island itself is definatly not a wild party place but it is very beautiful and relaxing and Venice is only a short boat ride away.

Room Tip: Order and pay extra for a good view else you may have a view into a wall or worse still a gym!

We took the Alilaguna to Lido you can talk the red or blue line 15 euros each way.
We arrived when it was dark and walked to the hotel through the central street and turn right at the end of the street-it was a long walk i would suggest getting the bus route 11 it will go right past the hotel(press the bell when you get to the cinema) past the Excellsior hotel on the left. You can also get the A or B bus too or get a taxi for about 10 euro's and would be worth it on the on the way there!
To catch the A and B bus from the hotel walk out of the hotel and cross the road and just walk up that road and the bus stop is on the left.

The hotel its self was lovely and clean. The staff were helpful and spoke English. Reception have maps so just ask. We had a lovely sea view and it was beautiful to wake up to( we had a balconey too). The breakfast was good croissants, ham, cheese, cereals and fruit-loads of choice.
The bed was MASSIVE! And the room was a good size. The shower was huge too and loved the little toiletries and slippers they give you.
The mini bar i reasonably priced but not a lot of choice, there is a Billa supermarket a short way from the ferry.
The hotel is about 15 mins from st marcs sq and is really peaceful, not much night life around the hotel and the vaporettos stops quite early but after a busy day walking around Venice it was nice to return and relax in the evenings.

Chose this Hotel as we thought it was good location next to the beach. It is!. But it is not on the beach. You to enter via the Excelsior Hotel next door. As such there is no advantage in choosing this property and paying the extra for a beachfront hotel. Rooms definately not 4*. Decorated like a 3* city hotel. No facilities and poor maintenance.

Room Tip: Ensure you do not get a room on the first floor at the back of the hotel. They are at street level a...
