“Ok, but nothing to write home about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Overall I was satisfied and we got what we've paid for (relative to typical prices in Venezia) but otherwise nothing terribly exciting.
-building is nice and classy
-rooms (we had 2) were clean but rather small and so--so furnished
-bathrooms VERY small and dated
-location: close to the beach, in a very quiet residential area, but no very close to restaurants (about a 15 min walk to get to the main street which is where pretty much everything is)
-breakfast sucked (like in pretty much in all Italian hotels). I admit I'm spoiled because I'm used to the Austrian hotel breakfasts which are a feast, but still: there was not much to choose from (cheap supermarket style ham and cheese, and not much of either, some prepackaged jam) and they served ONE croissant per person.

But overall an enjoyable experience, did not feel at all that I got ripped off. Just got what I paid for.

The Byron, on the Lido and away from the noise and crowds of central Venice, was a respite for us. Lucca and all the staff were always cheerful and helpful. The complimentary breakfast offefed lots of options from cereals and granola to yoghurt, cold cuts, breads, cheese, fresh fruit and always excellent cappuccino. The only down side is that the last of the vaporetti run in the early evening, too late if you want to attend an event across the lagoon.

Room Tip: Some rooms are larger and decorated in ornate Venetian style with larger bathrooms.

We stayed on the Lido de Venezia last year and we really like the location for a long weekend or city break. Most people will buy a pass for using the vaparetto so why not get away from the bustle of the main city? This hotel was very good value and not far from the taxi boat port and round the corner from restaurants and bars. Breakfast was typical continental and they had a lovely terrace on which to eat it if the weather permits. Service was OK and reasonably friendly.

Room Tip: This is a quiet area so no preference

From the outside this hotel looks nice,The reception area, lobby and old fashioned phone box gave it a bit of interest. My room although reasonably clean was quite worn out and tired.and the bathroom was just the same. The staff on the whole were helpful and happily answered my touristy questions. As there was no Restaraunt in the evenings or bar open I had to go back out at night, and after a full day sightseeing this was a bit of a let down. The breakfast was fine if you like crossoints or cheese.

Room Tip: Don,t book a single room

The rooms were clean, no air condition, nasty carpeted floors, hard pillows, but nice enough beds. The breakfast was extremely poor, even for Italian standards. The staff were friendly enough and the closeness to the beach was handy. The reception staff should be better at the general tourist information such as which ferry goes where and so on. They didn't have a clue.

Stayed in May for three nights! Has a lovely old-fashioned glamour feel inside, beautiful courtyard for breakfast, pretty pastel exterior in the lovely island of Lido which is full of picturesque houses and flowers everywhere!

Rooms was basic but we got a great deal, was very clean and had lovely old fashioned shutter windows and was very quiet at night! Great power shower!

Breakfast had a lovely mix of fruit, yoghurt, cereals, coissants etc! And the lady who served breakfast had a lovely happy personaility! :)

If you are considering staying in Lido, rather than Venice I highly recommend it! It is a short boat journey into Venice with boats running 24hours. Lido has more of a local feel and not as crazy busy! It is very picturesque with lovely cafes and restaurants! The beach is a must see - it is a great beach for sunbathing! The hotel is just a five minute walk from the 'Vaperetto' Boat station!
