“Disappointed - Will Never Go Back Again !”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Just returned from a stay at the Villa Edera and have to say that we were very disappointed for many reasons. We have stayed here many times before, probably 5 years ago, so was expecting a good experience.

We arrived at 15:30 on a Saturday afternoon, only to find the hotel closed and gates locked. Luckily a workman let us through the outer gate, and we found a side entrance door unlocked. We then proceeded to find a dark closed reception and located a welcome note with our name on, in a key storage rack. A very disappointing welcome if you ask me. We also saw 2 British passports just left in one of the key storage compartments. No security here whatsoever – disgraceful!

We then had to spend about 15 minutes making sure that once we left the hotel, that is was possible to get back in. When the front gate opens, it stays open for about 10 minutes, so that means anyone can get into the hotel. Again, very bad security.

The room was warm and bedding was quite good, but the shower is far too small, as I kept knocking the lever off whilst having a shower – most annoying. The room does have a safe, but it looks like you will need a special key to operate it, as it is not digital. We didn't feel comfortable attempting to use it anyway, as security was so bad.

Breakfast was quite poor, a cheap display of food put out for the guests. No ham for the mini bread rolls, and coffee wasn’t very pleasant either.

Reception staff were not very friendly, especially the man and lady that appeared to be the owners. They don’t seem to value their guests, and gave the impression that their paperwork was far more important.

We asked for a one and a half hour late checkout at 12:00 (checkout is 10:30) but the most they would do was 30 mins extra – quite poor as the hotel appeared to be mostly empty, with only a couple of rooms being occupied.

So, to sum it up, don’t choose this hotel if you want a warm welcome.

A very disappointing stay !

Room Tip: We asked for a high floor with a balcony at the front, as we were regular guests in the past, but th...

A couple of things to know.
- Now front desk service after 8 pm. No problem cheeking inn later, you get the necessery information from the front desk and there is front door phone witch let you inn.
- wifi is available but costs 5 EURO for 1 hour, or 10 for 24 hours
- smal TV, 19" on our room, only 1 station.
- on the fridge, it was a sign where it tells you that it is 5 EURO fine if you put in other tings bought other places.
-you could ease hear the noise from street (a quit street), hallway, and other rooms.
- short way to good restaurants
- short way to the water bus-5min.

After leaving it until too late to book anything moderately priced around San Marco, we chose to book here. It ended up being a great idea as it was a relief to get out of the never ending crowds in Venice for we went just last weekend during Carnival season. The room was decent enough for the stay even though I despise the whole pushing two twins together to make a bed thing. The shower was actually tiny but big enough for a normal sized person to wash themselves in. There is no free WIFI and can be bought if you want it. We saw a PC in the lobby but never used it. If you are thinking about staying in Lido, make sure you buy a extended duration ferry ticket straight up as you will definitely be saving. We only knew this later and bought a 36hr ticket for 25 euros each which is quite expensive.

We stayed at the Villa Edera for two nights prior to a Black Sea cruise. It was wonderful to be in Lido away from the madness of Venice. The hotel's location is excellent. There are numerous restaurants and gelaterias close by as well as a well stocked supermarket. The hotel itself is charming, old world style. The rooms are small and so is the bathroom but they are nice and cozy. We had a lovely balcony. It was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was nice and plentiful. The staff was very helpful and attentive. We were given 1 hr of free WiFi. Overall the hotel offered excellent value. A similar hotel in Venice would have cost a lot more. Great hotel for the frugal. Would definitely stay there hopefully in a not too distant future. Would love to be in Venice during the Carnival season.

Hi we stayed here with friends 26-29 Oct and found the hotel excellent. Rooms were very accommodating and clean, very friendly staff. Location on the lido was great with plenty of restaurants. The boat bus into venice(st marks square)was easy and quick to get to. All in all a lovely break and would definitely return to this hotel if going to venice again.

Don't stay at this hotel. We had bedbugs in our room. The "management" insisted they were mosquito bites and refused to do anything until we insisted, loudly, in the lobby that they move us to a different room. They also refused any sort of compensation. While the location is very good, it's not worth it. Also, breakfast is mediocre, no fresh fruit, lousy juices, very limited selections of everything else.

Dear Customer,
the room was changed immediately when you reported to have some spots on the hand and left arm.
We promptly called the Pest control Company but they have found no bugs (bedbugs).
Since you said to have spent the night with open Windows, we do really believe that the spots were mosquito's bite
Your claim for reimbursement gives credit to where you wanted to go.
Regards
The Propietor.

We stayed at the Edera for a few days in July and had another reservation for August during the film festival. The owner cancelled our reservation when he determined that he could get more money for the room. We were left without a hotel for a period of time that was incredibly difficult to find a hotel. I do not trust the owner of the hotel at all. As an aside, there was no hot water one of the days we were there in July.

Magari se prenota personalmente e non attraverso il padre che non ricordava mai la data esatta dell' arrivo .
