“Lovely break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

We had the most wonderful experience at this gorgeous hotel. The staff is also very kind and attentive. The place is spotless. This hotel is very close to the water station and very well connected to main Venice. I will recommended to anybody that appreciates beauty. Lido is a summers town so do not expect to see lots of people in the street or many shops open.

Four nights in December at the hotel. Kids in small room and we had once of the suites at the front which would highly recommend. Nice staff. Good breakfast. Close to water taxis. Just perfect for a short break. Was fairly empty at that time of year so restaurant was closed but loads of little restaurants close by so not a problem. Lovely area and we loved coming back to the hotel after very busy days in Venice.

Room Tip: Front of the hotel so looking out at main street as opposed to dark back rooms.

Charming hotel. Friendly staff. Clean hotel. Lovely outside bar. Average breakfast.
Supermarket nearby.

A definite highlight is that your somewhat removed from touristy Venice- I highly recommend taking a bike ride around the island and going to the beach...BUT you're simultaneously still so close by to the main attractions.

Would stay at this hotel again.

My wife and I stayed three nights at this lovely hotel in early December 2014. The hotel, which is only about a 10 minute walk from the main water bus station, is on the main street of the Lido island which is a most perfect place to stay while having the luxury of visiting the main Venice attractions. After spending most of the day in the high tourist area of St Marks Square; it was so comforting to return to Lido and the hotel at the end of the day to unwind. The hotel was absolute great except that the really large king size bed was a bit hard. The staff and ambience of the hotel were great as was the buffet breakfast served each morning. We absolutely loved Lido which was populated not by tourists but by locals and it was a great escape at the end of the day coming back to the hotel in Lido.

My partner and I just returned from a weekend at this wonderful hotel, we booked a deal through expedia for less than £150 each at short notice as it was my partners Birthday and for that price why not!

The island of Lido itself was very easy to reach from the airport, we took the alliguna and after 35-40 minutes arrived at the Lido stop.

Once on the island this hotel could not be easier to find and only a 5 minute walk along the main high street. We arrived late at night (approx 10pm) but plenty of bars and restaurants were still open around the hotel, which was brilliant news as my partner was very hungry after several hours travelling.

The hotel stands out compared to all the others, when we arrived it was covered in lights and looked really beautiful, the building itself is charming and elegant but the small touches like the red carpet leading to the front door and the water fountain in the grounds make it special. The other hotels we saw although quaint, looked rather average in comparison. My partners first comment upon seeing the hotel was that it looked like a castle from a Disney film, which made me smile as that is definitely my type when it comes to hotels.

The staff were very friendly and spoke a good level of English so checking in was a pleasure, there was a Christmas fair along the main street at the time and the concierge gave us the opening times for the next day along with a brief summary of the weather we could expect.

Once checked in we took the small elevator to the room which was on the fourth floor. The hotel had a lovely warmth to it as you walked through the halls, old leather furniture made up little seating areas and the room was easy to locate. The room itself was spacious with a high ceiling and large bathroom, the beds are a little uncomfortable if you are used to a soft mattress as they are made of quite firm foam, however it think this is typical of Italy in my experience and we were both still able to enjoy peaceful nights. Its very quiet, the only noise we heard was occasionally a mild toilet flush of what we assumed was the room next door but this wasn't loud. There was no street noise at all the whole island is very peaceful.

My partner is extremely tall (6"7) and occasionally we struggle with the bed size in hotels but the bed was very large and we were both very comfortable.

The next morning we had a walk around the hotel and found lovely event rooms to the front of the building, I love sumptuous venetian architecture and design, this hotel had plenty of it.

The breakfast room was a little small which was fine on the first morning as it was empty apart from us and one other couple but on the second morning we used one of the event rooms as an overspill as it was very busy. I have a severe Gluten/wheat allergy and had emailed the hotel before arrival to notify them, when I mentioned this to the attendants a basket of suitable alternatives was brought to my table which included bread, biscuits, a muffin and jam tarts. By English standards of Gluten free these were a little old school and very plain but they were a godsend for me as the rest of Italy does not seem to cater for Gluten allergies at all which can get a little tricky at times.

My Partner eats anything and everything though and was overall very impressed with the breakfast, fresh baked items like bread, muffins and croissants are served warm and with plenty of butter and jam! The only hot options were eggs and bacon but both he seemed to really enjoy. There is a selection traditional Italian meats and cheese as well as fruit, cereal and yoghurt. The hotel makes its own natural yoghurt which my partner fell in love with and ate several bowls of each morning. He's not normally a natural yoghurt fan but told me that it was potentially one of the best things he's ever tasted (and we've been to most of England's top restaurants so high praise indeed).

After breakfast we walked through the Christmas market and down to the boats, the concierge reminded us there was a chance of rain as we left and gave us some advice on places to visit. The Christmas market was almost all locals and they were all very friendly the whole island seems to celebrate its tourists and when we did meet the odd person who didn't speak any English there was always another local on hand happy to jump in and translate. Locals asked us where we were from and how we liked Venice so far, we were given glasses of wine and they played traditional English Christmas carols. It was absolutely lovely. The staff on the ticket desks for the boats generally spoke a high level of English and tickets were easy to get, its a very simple 15 minute journey on a boat to reach the main island of Venice and honestly some of the most idyllic views you can imagine as you approach the mainland. This was our first trip to Venice and we didn't manage to get lost once, the hotel was the perfect mix of traditional and peaceful with easy access to the mainland. We really could not have asked for a better location or setting for our holiday!

On the second night we decided to go to the opera/theatre on mainland Venice as we has toured Teatro La Fenice during the day.

My partner had brought an appropriate evening shirt and trousers which had unfortunately become very creased during the journey. He asked at front desk for an iron or trouser press and by the time he made it back up to the room a maid was already waiting by our door offering to iron his clothing for him. The items were brought back up to the room perfectly ironed within 5-10 minutes!

The staff here really do go above and beyond.

Just stayed three nights, found the staff attentive and friendly. The room was large and full of character, everywhere was spotless. Breakfast had lots to offer although only two hot dishes being eggs and bacon but the range of other foods more than made up for this. The hotel is easy to reach once you have reached the Lido by water bus and is so impressive upon arriving. The hotel can only enhance a visit to Venice.
Many thanks to the staff at the hotel.

This was my first trip to Italy, and susequently, my first hotel in Italy, and I loved it. I had researched "Lido" prior to making travel plans to Venice, and it was the perfect choice for us. We walked 5-10 minutes from Marco-Polo airport down to the dock and bought 2 fares for Lido on the vaporetto shuttle boat. 30 minutes later, after passing thru Murano and skirting the outside of Venice you get to Lido, a remarkably relaxed, tree-covered island studded with villas across the lagoon from Venice. A three-minute walk up from the vaporetto terminal puts you in the hotel courtyard, and it's a showstopper of a hotel from the front façade. Our room overlooked the main street running toward the beach (a further 5-10 minute walk). The room was spacious with tall ceilings and a modern bathroom. Beds were foam mattresses but offered a comfortable sleep. NOTE: it was more common than not across all of Italy for a king bed to be two singles pushed together. This didn't bother us, but just so that you are aware. There was a minibar with a good selection of items. The decor of the room was traditional. The room fee included a buffet breakfast that was quite large and varied from italian to traditional continental, as well as bacon & eggs. Cappucino/espresso was available on request. The courtyard serves cocktails in the evenings (not free). I believe food was also available but we ate out for lunches and dinners.

There are several cafes up and down the street, and some are open fairly late for a night-cap before heading in for the evening. There are also several convenience stores, a department store, and an endless bevy of gelaterias.

The vaporetto terminal has several options for heading over to Venice, Murano, and other points of interest. It was about a 10-15 minute ride to St. Mark's square. Vaporetto schedules were pretty well adhered to, but upon departure for the train station or airport I would schedule in an extra hour just to be safe.

We stayed 3 nights for $265 U.S. a night, and that was booking the night before (as we were flying standby). It was the most we spent a hotel during our trip, but since it was our first hotel on our first Italian vacation, it was worth the cost.

The daytime concierge was extremely warm and rather excited to speak English (I guess "american" was stamped on our foreheads). She helped us locate a bicycle rental shop and gave us some points of interest on Lido to check out.

I would definitely return to this hotel. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Room Tip: Showers are small, as was common across most of Italy we discovered. If you are a large person, you...
