“A little run down”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2009

I stayed here a year ago and it seems to have gone downhill since then. It is pet friendly which is why we chose it and they have a good dog exercise area with bags and a bin. (unfortunately a lot of people who travel with their pets appear to not know how to use these items!!) Our room was away from the highway and quiet.
Lobby as per usual is nice but the rooms are showing their age with stains, bedding that is quite threadbare etc. Room did have a fridge and MW. Heating unit seemed newer but was very noisy. Room had a strong unpleasant perfume type odour. Breakfast was adequate but milk was kept in a container that wasn't refrigerated (was warm) and the hard boiled eggs were a funky yellow colour.
I would not choose this hotel again unless desperate.

We drove to the hotel, which is off of I-90 at exit 15 and inquired about a room. I have never stayed in a La Quinta before and was surprised by the cost. I thought it would be under $100.00. We knew they would accept dogs, we were exhausted from our long drive and had decided to stay if they had a room. I am not sure if our room was indicative of others there, but it was huge and very quiet. The set up was well-thought out. The bathroom was right inside the door, with the vanity area outside the door to the bath and toilet. Then between that and the sleeping quarters was the small kitchenette, complete with a very small dishwasher. It was so perfect. This arrangement kept the beds away from the door, thus making it much more quiet than most set ups. The workers at the desk were very helpful and friendly. The experience was good enough to make me decide to sign up for their rewards program. Maybe I was expecting little and it exceeded my expectations so remarkably...don't know....but I would definitely stay there again. Location is not in the middle of things. Looks like it was close to the Lake though. Didn't see a lot of eating establishments close by, however. That was fine for this stopover. The lobby was very inviting. Large leather couches and a fireplace. Nice business center off the main drag of the lobby, making you feel like the world wasn't seeing what you were typing. Pool area was very nice. The grounds were very pleasant too. Breakfast was well presented, a lot of seating, and it was a little bit expanded...hard boiled eggs and waffles, which were actually quite good.

Stayed here for one evening while traveling across the country. The hotel was very nice, clean, and quiet. King sized rooms also had a desk and full sized couch in the room which was a plus. Iron, ironing board, coffee maker and hairdryer were all provided. Pets were allowed and decent parking. The bed was comfortable, but didn't care for the feather pillows, personally. Nice continental breakfast was provided in the morning and location is close to restaraunts, gas stations, and close to I-90. The Lake and downtown area were easily accessible, only about 5 min. away from hotel. Lots of shopping and eating places located on Sherman Ave. as well. Very touristy!! Would stay here again.

Our stay at the La Quinta Inn Coeur D'Alene (Appleway) was fine. The facility is clean and staff friendly. We used their laundry facilities and they were great. Its a easy hotel to access from I-90, and its an easy drive to the lake area. Parking in that area was inexpensive and available, but it was a Thursday when we stayed. Rooms are good. Pool wasn't so great when we were there, and the hot tub is in such a way you really have quite a climb to get in. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast was fine - and plentyful. Easy access to restraunts, though the roads here are pretty busy. Great for a short stay.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2006

After several days in a Spokane Suites Hotel (Oxford) we decided as a family to spend a night in Coeur d'Alene Idaho. Well this was one part of our trip that we hadn't planned out. So we arrived at the Idaho state line and checked out hotels at the info centre. They had a board that showed a bunch of hotels etc. with direct phone lines to each. Based on the pictures and descriptions we chose LaQuinta. Now, We've never stayed at a LaQuinta but I had my reservations based on many reviews from many different locations - seems like LaQuinta is never very highly rated. The pricing was higher than what we had experienced in the excellent accomodations of the Oxford in Spokane but we went ahead anyways. The room was a double queen for $139 per night and with my BCAA discount was $124. The room was plain, the kitchenette was very outdated...but I have to give them credit for working hard to keep the place clean. The views from all around the motel were bad, highway on one side, industrial area on the other and older unkept homes in the back. The breakfast area wasn't adequate, way too small, but again they did their best with the limited space and selection of foodstuffs. Hardboiled eggs, two choices of cereal, etc. The staff was very nice. I would say the pricing was a high for what you got, I'm sure I probably would have done better booking online. Nowhere near great and not as low as bad....very very average. Nothing fancy, very plain in every way.
