The "new" CELLAR (note they dropped the Wine oft the name) was a near total disappointment. We went there for a date night and were dismayed at the service, food quantity and food quality. We had heard they were improving on the old Wine Cellar menu with the new chef and new kitchen. Nope. The only thing favorably remarkable about the evening was a visit downstairs after dinner. The jazz was great and the wine list extensive. We should have skipped upstairs totally, and our clue was seeing so many empty tables at 7:00! The service was horrible! The waitress took almost 10 minutes to acknowledge us after being seated and they weren't at all busy. She seemed more intent on hanging out at the kitchen counter. Other customers actually got up and left. We ordered the "Cellar specialties" noted on the menu. The meal took over 30 minutes to reach us. Thank god for wine! My date's brick chicken was tough and tasteless. My flank steak was so bland I was looking for salt, but there wasn't any on the table. The slop they called polenta was goey and totally bland. Where did they find this "chef?" We didn't finish our dinner and declined the "to go" box when they finally offered. It ended up being a slow and painful way to lose over $100.00! So to give them a score: Service - 1/10, Food Quantity - 3/10, Food Quality 2/10 (we didn't get sick!), Atmosphere - 8/10 (the jazz was good and downstairs was much friendlier), Value - 3/10 (the wine price was fair), We won't go back again. What a shame because the old WINE CELLAR was pretty darn good in retrospect.
