Had a king bed, garden view room. Garden was actually the pool. Room was great size, very clean, soft bed. Only noise was from slamming doors in hallway. Could use a little updating but noting wrong with our stay. Staff was friendly & helpful. We would stay there again!

Big sprawling two storey hotel and function venue about a mile and a half from downtown Boise. What was probably once a lovely location on the riverside has been somewhat spoiled by the I-184, which has cut it off in an island of confusing one way streets.

Lobby and public areas were clean and well kept, but looking a little tired in places. Check in was OK, if a little fussy. We then drove some little way round the perimeter to our room, it would be quite a hike with luggage if arriving by taxi or shuttle from the airport!
On opening the door our room was actually quite a surprise, much nicer than I had expected from what I had seen of the property so far! It was spacious and comfortable, with a couch, a large desk and a separate table with chairs and looked as if it had been recently re-modelled. Bathroom was clean, with a supply of toiletries. There was also a vanity unit with sink, well lit mirror and more towels and toiletries in a “lobby” area between the bathroom and the rest of the room, a useful facility when two people are trying to get ready to go out at once.
The gardens to the rear of the property were another pleasant surprise, lovely lawns and rose bushes with trees providing shady nooks and a nice outdoor pool. This has access to the Riverside Walk and we enjoyed a lovely stroll to downtown for dinner one night.

This is a difficult property to sum up. We have stayed several times in Boise and all of the hotels have issues; the downtown properties are mainly overpriced or sub standard, while none of the outlying hotels are really conveniently located. There are a whole crop of new places opening up that look interesting, but at the moment seem to be reluctant to offer deals attractive to the leisure traveller.
Overall I would say that I have reservations about using Priceline in Boise, and I certainly wouldn’t pay rack rate for the Doubletree, but if it came up at the right price on Hotwire I would not hesitate to stay again.

“Enjoyed my stay”

Doubletree Hotel Boise - Riverside

Aug 11, 2007

After reading some reviews of the Doubletree I was a little hesitant to book this room. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the whole process. I checked in almost 2 hours early and was greeted with "no problem, we will be happy to accomodate you". I had a courtyard patio room that was very pleasant. Close to the pool, river and courtyard. The king bed was very comfortable and had a very quiet, refreshing sleep. This was one of the most quiet hotels I have ever stayed, even though there were many people staying there. Room service was awesome, I told them I needed to leave quickly, my breakfast was there in 10 mintues!!! So all of this being said I would go back again! I enjoyed my stay.

This is a very average, sprawling complex of building located immediately adjacent to the Boise River just Northwest of city center.

The Doubletree is the largest hotel in Boise and spreads out over a large area. We were loacted in a building far removed from the lobby, butthis was not really a problem for us.

Service was spotty at best. One day our room was not made and we had to request towels on another occasion, but no horror stories. The air conditioner worked just barely well enough to overcome the 105 degree heat we encountered. As I said, the hotel joins the Boise River and thus gives acces to the complex of walking trails which stretch throughout town.

All in all a pretty average property. About what you'd expect from a decent Holiday/Ramada Inn.

“Old style but comfortable”

Federal Way, WA

This was a July 4-5, 2007 stay two kids and me.

This Doubletree is not your typical Doubletree. It is actually a VERY spread out resort like hotel with a large central pool area (One huge pool, one kiddie pool, and a separate hot tub.) surrounded by an even larger yard that is very well maintained and beautiful. It has also a series of conference rooms on site. Most of the rooms are situated a short distance away because of the more centrally located conference rooms. All buildings have two stories. The double Queen room was comfortable, with the added bonus of two shower heads in the bath shower although the shower heads lacks massaging settings. Being a Diamond HHonors member, I was upgraded to a Riverview room, but the view was limited because of the foliage surrounding the river. Hotel pickup occurred 15 minutes after a call from the airport, and the driver was courteous and helpful. Front desk was okay but needed more training in the hospitality business. Cookies were warm, gooey and good when we arrived around 1:30 p.m. There is a supposedly a 25 mile Boise River walk/cycle path that neighbors the hotel, and is a gem though we did not do the full 25 miles. It is well lit even into the dark, and feels very secure.

There is a HHonors lounge though it was not opened July 4. A restaurant was on site, but a little expensive; breakfast was mediocre. Closest restaurant is Joe's Crab Shack with above average food and service, and a cool place to hang out on a very hot Boise over 100 degree summer day. There are surrounding restaurants within a 10 minute walk, though they were closed also on July 4. Being a Diamond HHonors member, I was upgraded to a Riverview room, but the view was limited because of the foliage surrounding the river. I do not believe that limited view commands extra money.

Biggest gripe I have was that they tried to over charge me for a NetDirect rate (pre-paid) incorrectly claiming that there was a difference that needed to be made up for my discounted pre-payment rate. Although everything was resolve at the end, the lack of proper training in this and a “could be more friendly staff” deserves only a 3.5 star rating based on this stay. I still would consider this place for my next stay if the price is right however.
