“very nice property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

We stayed here for 2 days around 4th July which was a great choice. It is very close to the park where the fireworks and party was going on. And at walking distance to the city centre where the parade was.
It is more like an apartment with a full fitted kitchen and a sitting area. Would book this hotel again whenever we go to Boise

I felt badly for the front desk clerk...but the entire check in process was a problem. The card making machine was broken and it took a long time to produce keys. After getting to our room, they keys did not function so I had to return to the front desk. After waiting on the key making machine again, I returned to the room and when my husband and I walked in - the room was already occupied! The ironing board was up, the bed was unmade and there were clothes in the closet. After returning to the front desk a third time, the front desk told me they made a mistake and offered me a snack from the store as compensation for the trouble. Which was nice, but we were then concerned about leaving with fear that people would have access to our room. Overall, the stay was fine but definitely a bit concerning when it came to security.

The 3-star category status assigned to this hotel belies the quality of not only the property, but the outstanding staff and management that underpins the day-to-day operation if this outstanding establishment. Without question, for the vacationer and business traveler, this is THE most desirable Marriott property and location within the Boise area. It is at the top of my list (and the top of many of my colleagues lists) if all hotels available in the area.

Based upon my extensive experience as a business traveler (Gold or Platinum Marriott Elite Member status in each of the last 12 years) I know a well-managed hotel property when I see one. Probably in any other major city in the country, this property would carry at least a Marriott Category 5 rating. The fact that it doesn't gives in a "hidden gem" status for the rest of us.

What is the property's secret to its success? Its manager - Steve Rich. In my travels, I have had the opportunity to engage with many of the managers of Marriott properties; ranging from the Gran Flora Hotel in Rome, Italy, to the TPC-Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Florida, to the Residence Inn Boise. None of these managers has been engaged in the day-to-day to operation of their property to the level achieved by Mr. Rich. His efforts are tireless in his quest to make everyone who comes on to his property happy with their Marriott experience.

Here's what's right about this property: Clean, quiet, and comfortable rooms, manicured landscaping, full breakfast, free wireless, high-speed Internet (and I emphasize high-speed) access from anywhere on the property, hospitable and responsive hotel staff, and a great location backing up to an extraordinary public green space and - Mr. Rich's personal attention to get the small things right.

This facility is convenient to restaurants, the Boise Airport, and is adjacent to Boise State University. Again, personally, I've never stayed at a better hotel property in the Boise area, and I would not make this glowing recommendation if I didn't think your experience wouldn't be as good as mine.

Thank you to the Staff and Management of Residence Inn Boise for an exceptional experience!

My reservation was fine but my friend's wasn't. She checks in and finds out that they overbooked. Their reason was that the people already checked in extended their stay. I think that my friend's reservation should have been honored and those that extended should have been told that they did not have any rooms available for extension. In lieu of what they did to my friend (I convinced her that this was a good place to stay but she got bumped away from her resevation nad made to stay in the nextdoor hotel and actually had to transfer te following day since the other hotel was also ovebooked), I cancelled my reservation.

Please accept our apologies for the overbooking and issues with your reservations. Unfortunately in the hotel business it can and does happen sometimes that the hotel will overbook. Fortunately for our hotel it does not happen very often, but it did, and we try to accomodate everyone as best we can.
To offer a brief explanation of how it can happen; we are a Residence Inn which is one of Marriott's "Extended Stay" brands where we specialize in guests that stay 5 nights or longer. Many of our guests live here for months and months whether here to relocate to the area or on a special assignment bringing with them many of their belongings. Often times they are uncertain of their departure date as the project may be extended or their new home may not close or the rebuilding may not complete on schedule which puts them without a "home" if we cannot extend them. If we do have to relocate a guest it makes better business sense to do that to a short term guest than one that might stay several more weeks or to a company that gives us hundreds of rooms a year.
I hope you can understand that while trying to accomodate everyone, sometimes it is inevitable and we try our best to resolve the situation to where everyone can be accomodated.

Thank you

My wife and I went to Boise for a wedding last week. We submitted a bid through Priceline for a 3-star in Downtown Boise and wound up with good value at the Residence Inn by Marriott. The location was convenient to the wedding reception at the Zoo Boise of all places. Also nearby were Boise State University and the many government offices.

The staff at the Residence Inn was consistently outstanding, especially at the front desk and the dining area. Daily breakfast was good, somewhat varied daily and all you could eat. We got a free buffet dinner one evening including beer/wine. The room we had was large and included a full kitchen and fireplace. Furnishings were adequate, but not plush. The room was quiet except for very slight noise from the room overhead and the furnace coming on at night. The bed was reasonably comfortable, but the pillows were marginal. There was one PC with Internet access. It wasn't speedy and occasionally locked up. Still, we were able to check-in for our return flight and print our boarding passes.

We visited another family member staying at the Hampton Inn/Spectrum in West Boise. The furnishings there were considerably more plush, but the room itself was considerably smaller and with no kitchen or fireplace. The Spectrum/Mall area has newer stores and restaurants than where we stayed. We enjoyed our time at the Residence Inn, especially at a favorable Priceline rate.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 1413, at the far end from the lobby. Other than one day when it was raining hard...

Cannot express how accommodating this hotel is. We do staycations here as often as we can. This is our "home away from home", and we love this hotel. The front desk gal (Nikayla) was very friendly. She is fairly new, but knew exactly what she was doing. She made our stay even more enjoyable. Everything we needed, i.e. extra towels and pillows, were provided with a smile. As one of the maintenance workers, Wayne, was leaving, we mentioned that there were a couple of bees/wasps near the hot tub. Even though he was off work, he wanted to see if there was something he could do to help us out. Problem solved. Kudos to Nikayla, Wayne, and Jeff! Our room, as usual, was clean and very comfortable. The hot tub relaxing. The full kitchen allows us to bring our own food and stay in for dinner. The fireplace is an added benefit! (If you forget, or are unable, to bring a fire-log, they will provide you one for a very small charge.) TripAdvisor will only allow us to post a review of this property every 6 months or so. We stay here at least once a month, and have never had a bad experience. Thank you all for making our night out another memorable staycation! See you soon.

Room Tip: We love the "second" hot tub, near building 12 or 14.

Stayed there 4 nights. Staff is exceptional! They provided shuttle or cab service for me several times. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with full kitchen. They will do grocery shopping if you give them a list. Breakfast is wonderful... several hot items, oatmeal with toppings, great coffee, fruit, cereal, etc. I went to one of the managers' receptions... they had hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, cole slaw, potato salad, brownies, and beverages including wine and beer. Used their computer in the lobby... it always worked well. Although they do not have an indoor pool, they will send guests to In Towne Suites across the parking lot, and they will send their guests to Residence Inn during the summer for their outdoor pool. I used the indoor pool once, and it was great. Wonderful stay; exceptional staff!
