I had reserved a room here due to it's close proximity to Idaho Statesmen as I had to be attending meetings there for the week and did not feel comfortable renting a car. I did, call the hotel and inquire about a shuttle service, they sent a very elderly man to pick me up. He was impolite and mocked my profession in conversation. He didn't get a tip.
My ordeal began as soon as I checked in. An elderly lady was responsible for processing my reservation and it seemed like she was struggling to work their reservation system. She at first could not find my reservation even though I had provided my full name, phone number and a hotel given conformation number, too much information in my opinion. During the 15 minutes it took her to discover my reservation and check me, I couldn't help but notice how unpresentable the lobby area was. Trash was all over the sitting area, stains on the carpet, and a severely dated front desk that was inconveniently preventing fluid passage through the hotel.
My room was far in the back of the hotel and upstairs. Come to find out there are no elevators in the hotel after walking to my room, returning to the front desk to inquire about elevators, then back to my room with large suitcases. As soon as I get to my room the key fails to allow me into my room. I was able to get in after I returned a second time to the lobby and got a new key.
Throughout my stay I had several problems with the room being too hot or cold. There was always a horrible smell present and always a constant noise of some sort. I had reported this several times yet no one came to fix the problem until my last day, to which I was relieved to depart.
The breakfast they provide is a joke. Everything is stale, tastes horrible, and has little to no nutritional value. The breakfast is prepared by yet another elderly staff member with questionable ablilities. From what I witnessed she did not wear gloves and was not really cooking the breakfast but re-heating it. Simply gross.
Another desk clerk that I spoke to had no real knowledge of the town and stated that she had not lived there long. She was friendly but it seemed like she didn't enjoy working there.
I also met another front desk clerk who to my surprise was very young compared to the other clerks. Meeting him was a great pleasure as he saved me $150 by repairing my computer for me at no charge and connecting me to their wireless network in under five minutes. Among other talants he was very personable and funny. Typical college student I would say. He was very knowledgable about the area let alone everything I talked to him about. Where did they find this kid! I was very impressed.
