“Close to downtown, and a good night's stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

This hotel is a fairly long-ish walk into downtown or a very short drive. We did both. The hotel is very nicely done with a tasteful lobby, free internet in the lobby (or the room, if you have silver status), and clean and comfortable rooms with a loveseat, giving you the chance to stretch out. I would recommend this hotel both for its location and the quality of the stay.

We stayed here for a conference downtown and the hotel was in the perfect location. It is a very nice hotel relatively clean rooms that were exactly what we needed . The bed was very comfey and their is no noise to desturb you . Having said that I'd also note that the staff cleaned well but missed hairs all over the shower and towels so it was alittile gross . When we called down to the front desk to ask for towels , they never answered . As a matter of fact we called several times through out the weekend and no one ever answered not even when we where trying to check out . So expect to do a lot of front desk visits like we did . All in all it is a very nice hotel .

We previously stayed at the Mariott Town Suites but my grandfather booked the hotel for us & got them confused so we ended up at the courtyard this time. I read the reviews & they weren't all that great. I figured it couldn't be too bad...I was wrong! Very disappointed in the service of this hotel.
Our room was booked for 3 nights. Wed- Fri but due to driving after work from Seattle to Boise we didn't check in until 5am on Thursday. Walked up to front desk, asked the only person around if this is where we check in. He looked around & said yes. I'm assuming he was off the clock since he was not in uniform. He rushed us thru check in process & we went to our room. Room was average. 2 double beds, desk, chair, tv. In comparison to the town suites the room was small & not as nicely equipped. There is NO microwave even tho the website claimed there was. There is a fridge that does not get cold. AC did not work well, temps warm in Boise & room didn't cool down enough. We checked in at 5am, had to shower & were out of the room by 8am. Expected to come back to a clean room when we returned at 6pm but no one had been in our room! the next day we were gone at 8:30 am & back around 2...no one cleaned our room again!! Not able to call the front desk from either phone in room. Why...who knows, buttons did not work. Walked to front desk told someone who looked like the manager we needed towels, shampoo, etc. Took 30 minutes to get anyone there & she looked completely confused as to why we would need these things, then just checked us off her list! Our room was on the corner. It was noisy & we could smell cigarette smoke. Yes, the lobby & courtyard area are nice, rooms clean & location very close to BSU (the reason for our visit) but we will not likely stay here again & we will be making many trips to Boise since our child is attending school there. We will however return to the Marriott town suites which is also close to campus.

I called the Courtyard when another Marriott, Towne Place, had refused to honor my reservation (made 4 days earlier online, held with a visa) because they had a platinum member decide to stay another day. I found a room at the Courtyard on line and asked the desk to hold if for me until I could transfer my reservation from the other Marriott. They told me they would hold it until 9pm. I called the Towne Place and told them to call me when they'd made the transfer. At 730pm, 5 minutes later, they called to say the room had not actually been held, someone had reserved it on line, and I was again out of a room. Made for a totally crappy experience.

The hotel has a great courtyard ( fire pits/lounge areas) and a very nice lobby. The rooms are tired, the a/c didn't work properly. The in room fridge was turned off, so by the time it cooled down the beverages were warm. Staff was great and free parking is abundant. To get to the true downtown entertainment area, you have a 10-15 minute walk

Room Tip: grab a first floor courtyard patio so you can exit out to lounge area

I've stayed here many times in 2012 for business trips. The lobby & courtyard are the highlight of this hotel, but the rooms are good, too. Here are the lobby highlights:

- There is always a staff member at the front desk to assist you, 24/7.
- There is a small a la cart area where you can buy a bottled beer, Kraft single serve Mac & Cheese, M&M's, pre-made sandwiches, etc. There are utensils & a microwave for you to heat your food. You pick out what you want & pay at the front desk, which is a few feet away. They just add it to your room. Eat at the many tables in the lobby or take it to you room.
- There is also a bar/food area a few steps away, where staff will make menu items or pour you a glass of wine (no hard liquor). Prices at both the self serve & bar area are fairly high. You'd be better off walking to the grocery store a few blocks away but it's very convenient to eat in the lobby. The food (mostly some decent breakfast options & some appetizer-type foods) is not great. There is some fresh fruit available (apples, bananas, etc) which is nice.
- In the lobby there is also a nice business center & some seating near a TV. There are several free newspapers which is nice.
- Facing the check-in area there is a large flat screen TV that constantly displays the current weather, headlines, stock info, etc. It's a nice little extra for times when you're standing in the lobby for whatever reason.
-There are 2 computers connected to a printer right near the door that are there specifically to print out your airline boarding passes. This is a very handy feature!!

The rooms are fine - a tiny bit smelly but nothing offensive. The size is fine and the room & bathrooms are clean. There is a small fridge in each room & a microwave near the ice machine & vending on each floor. The free WIFI in the rooms works fine, although it could be a bit faster.

I've heard the gym is fine but haven't been there myself.

There is a central courtyard area off the lobby that a lot of the rooms look out onto, which seems really nice. Lots of greenery and seating.

The location is great - Boise is so small that nothing is more than a mile or 2 away. Downtown, where there are a ton or restaurants, is a 10 or 15 minute walk.

we got a priceline room, and i called to see if you could be put up in a high room and have two beds. the frontdesk person, trisha, was so nice and said , right then, we had a nice high room, two beds and a balcony...yipee, so far so good.
checking in was really pleasant. devin checked us in and off we went.
it was late, or i would have changed rooms. there was trash still in the bin, a sticker (???) stuck to the chair, part of the pen on one side of the room, and the other under the bed and lotion (hopefully), running down the bathroom wall. the sink area was tiny, but very nicely appointed. the coffee maker has to be taken down, off the very small area, and put on the sink, as there is no room for the plug, where it sits. no problem, i loved the remodeled room, great bed, but if they all weren't so nice, i would have given it no stars.
i would stay there again, but please check the rooms before having guests.
