“Great River Walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2007

Stayed in this hotel twice in span of 10 days at beginning and end of road trip. This hotel is a very good value. The rooms are spacious and clean, the breakfast above the normal continental fare, and you are only a block away from a very pleasant morning or evening walk on the Boise River.

The nearby restaurants leave a little to be desired in value and variety, but I enjoyed the restaurants in downtown Boise.

My only complaint is a noisy air conditioning unit.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a 2 night stay to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We were delighted. The bed was fabulous. The shower was just right. The breakfasts were delicious. The service was great. The location on Park Center was quiet and convenient. The wonderful Boise greenbelt bike path is right behind the hotel, and we brought our bikes with us specifically to enjoy riding it in both direction from the hotel. The bike trail is a tremendous facility for the city to offer it's residents . . . and guests. Thanks to everyone at Springhill Suites for a wonderful stay. We'll see you again.......for sure !

  • Liked — A really good bed and a fine breakfast.
  • Disliked — The vanity light shines directly on the bed. I prefer it to be around a corner.

We have stayed at this property many times, and every time without fail we have received nothing less than stellar service whether it be from the front desk or housekeeping. The rooms are very clean, and nice sized. Each room has a sink, fridge, and microwave which is a great added bonus. The bed mattresses are exceptional! The morning breakfast is wonderful and the staff keeps it very well stocked and is very attentive to the guests needs. The hotel is very close to downtown for business or pleasure trips and convenient if attending a BSU function. The outdoor pool is a nice size and has always been clean. We won't stay anywhere else when visiting the Boise area, and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great for those who have a car and want to have quick access to downtown (2-3mins) and be in a quiet countryside/suburban setting with lots of restaurants nearby (from sufer tacos to Red Robin) unlike the industrial and busy main hotel strip on Vista Ave which has lots of traffic lights all the way down which makes getting to downtown take 10 minutes!

This hotel is about what you expect from these mid-priced chains. Nice room, looked to be recently redone, but a little
"institutional" in feel. Tiny bathroom. Great housekeeping.

We paid $79 for a King room with a small double pull out bed. The linens for the couch were in the closet, but didn't look clean.

The facility is not well planned for so many people. Each room seemed to be housing large groups, lots of kids, grandparents etc. The pool was packed and uninviting. Everything seemed overloaded. The location of the hotel is alongside a busy thoroughfare. There are restaurants within walking distance, but all essentially pizza, pasta and fast food. The hotel offers a breakfast, with waffles, egg mcmuffins, toast, bagels, yoghurt, cereal and our favorite - oatmeal. The beds were okay, but everyone was asking for blankets downstairs. The incredibly noisy air conditioner drove us crazy. It was not a terribly hot weekend, but the room was stuffy without it. The toilet overflowed, for no reason at all, and noone came to fix it, so the maid gave us towels to help out.

The hotel caters to large families and sporting groups. For an all suite, that was reasonably new, $79 is a very fare price. However, for a bit more one could go down town, have two queens and maybe a more enjoyable stay. This is a large souless all suite hotel, that thinks its a small all suite hotel.

  • Liked — all suite, price
  • Disliked — too crowded, no toiletries, poorly maintained, mayhem
