“Rooms deteriorating, rates excellent!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

The place was clean and quiet enough, and very convenient to downtown Boise. The exterior was ok, but the rooms are long past due for facelifting. Furnishings were as described by other reviewers, but I had no problems with getting a good hot shower. I liked that the towels were immaculately white and not hung over the toilet, like in many other motels. While the room was indeed decrepit, I upgraded my rating to average due to its convenience to downtown Boise (no sense of being in "a bad neighborhood", either) and the very affordable rate. The place is also pet friendly, though I, if I'd had my dog, we'd have had trouble finding a grassy spot close by.

This hotel was recommended (in the sense of "nothing special but clean and decent") in Lonely Planet, which was why we picked it; plus, it does have low rates and it seemed more fun to check out a locally owned motel than one that belongs to a US-wide chain.

Unfortunately, this is pretty much all this place has going for it. The room was dim, the internet connection was slow at best and broke down several times, the vending machine didn't work, the plastic coffee pot hadn't been properly washed, and the chair in the room had a weird stain. At least the sheets were clean. The worst thing was the inescapable stale odor of old smoke in the non-smoking room we'd booked. I noticed the room was located right next to several smoking rooms and went to ask the owner if it had recently been made non-smoking, which he denied. Unless my nose (and my girlfriend's) both suffered from the same inexplicable olfactory hallucination the moment we set foot in the room, that answer was either dishonest or based on a very generous definition of "recently".

The bottom line for me is, if you want to smoke in your room and accept a slight lack of cleanliness in exchange for a low rate, this place might do. Everyone not fitting that description, stay away.

Dirty carpet and chairs. Sink stopper was broke. You had to be incredibly strong to get the shower to turn on. Bad TV reception and no HBO. Curtains were literally falling off the rod. 40 yr. old motel furniture. Mattress was sloped to one side. I guess you get what you pay for. $43.00 should have been a clue. This was the worst motel we have ever stayed in.

I found the person renting the rooms and answering the phone rude. It was a very cold winter night. I didn't get as far as renting a room, but I observed a guy trying to get into his room for what seemed like forever, then he went to the manager for assistance only to be turned back with the key he had to try again, he tried to get in again with no luck and went back to the manager, at this point the manager eventually came out to assist. I had seen and heard enough personally and from observing this man's experience to not even bother wasting my time procuring a room.

Room Tip: Make sure your room key is working. Try and get a look at the inside of the room before renting it.

Pretty bog standard motel. Scottish traveler and have stayed in many motels across America, completely inoffensive and not unclean. Cheap as you like and great location - minutes away from downtown Boise. Could do with a redecoration for sure, but does what it says on the tin.

Room Tip: have a choice of smoking or non smoking.

I arrived unexpectedly on a Boise State home game night. Every place a checked was full until I noticed the Cabana Inn. It is definitely a budget place as the room definitely had old decor but was clean and a place to lay my head. It was fine for a night and suited my needs.

We always try to support the local motels whenever we travel, so when Copa Cabana Inn came up as the cheapest on Kayak and was in the Downtown, we had to check it out. The manager was very nice. The rooms hadn't been redecorated or updated since about 1993, but the one we had was clean and quiet. Mini fridge, microwave, tv, coffee maker were all newer and good, bathroom fixtures were really old. The decorations were a Spanish-style sort of in following with the name- Picasso prints on the walls, ornate dark fake wood, dark old carpet. Everything worked fine, it was just old.
