What a great gem in Boise! Who knew that this greenway stretched 30 miles and was so well taken care of! Definitely a reason to consider travel to Boise!
It's a wonderful place to walk, run, bike, explore! It's beautiful all year round and with so many trails there's lots to see. We love the greenbelt so much!
The Greenbelt is the flowing heart of Boise- covered in every tree imaginable (but no snozzberries, Mr. Wonka), with cyclists, rollerbladers, skaters, walkers, dogs, and geese...yes, geese. There are a LOT of geese on certain sections of the Greenbelt, so if you like blurring around blind corners on rollerblades or your bike, you may earn yourself a mouthful of feathers. Location is stunning, with one section a peaceful place of repose for strollers and resting, while the next section gives a magnificent view of kayakers trying to keep afloat (which is admittedly funny). Shade trees, fruit and nut trees, and everywhere the smiles of people walking by (the bikers don't smile as much, but you can always tell a happy cyclist by the bugs in their teeth!) Hot air balloon launches, marathons and charity walks, bands and picnics...all are here at the center of the City of Trees. Walk the Greenbelt. You'll be glad you did!
Downtown Boise along their Boise River hike and parks provides an excellent way to relax for the day. Take your time, picnic at a number of picnic tables along their park system, and we enjoyed feeding hundreds of Canadian Honker geese that congregate in a couple of areas along their ponds......we love the creatures. Don't forget to dip your toes in the river on a warm day!
Also great Kayak adventure. Rent dingies, tubes, kayaks from park .Good two hour float and riding the rapids. City park bus picks you up and returns you to your car at the starting point.
