“great inn to stay at”

Have just spent the weekend at the Cat Inn. Lovely welcome. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Stayed in room 8, which had a double aspect. This meant that after a lovely meal in the restaurant downstairs, we could watch the light fading over the fields, but more importantly saw the most beautiful sunrise this morning. Room clean and spacious. Felt so comfortable from the word go - and we really didn't want to leave. Had to be just a weekend this time - oh but we'll be back! I never got to try the triple ginger cheesecake, so what better excuse to return..............

Room Tip: Room 8 is on the roadside, but the traffic noise didn't disturb us. However the room was filled...

We booked a weekend stay at the Cat Inn so that we could visit Lindisfarne and the surrounding area.
The rooms were nice, very clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent. I could not fault the place and I would definitely recommend it and would use it again.
Right on the A1, very easy to get to and lovely peaceful surroundings even next to a fairly busy road.

Just came back from our 3rd stay at The Cat Inn, Cheswick, Berwick-Upon-Tweed. As per usual we had a very warm welcome from Jenny, Jim and Carol who were holding the fort for Paul and Marion who were enjoying a well earned break. Hospitality was second to none, along with an excellent choice of starter, main and sweet dishes. We quickly relaxed after a beautiful dinner in the comfortable and doggy friendly bar, before retiring for a good night sleep in our traditional and cosy en-suite bedroom. We woke refreshed on Saturday morning to a hearty Northumberland cooked breakfast which set us up nicely for the day. Sunday dinner with succulent chicken breast was outstanding as ever. We can't wait to go back in hopefully early November, and are already counting down the days on our calendar!

On the last day of our two week holiday, we decided to eat at the Cat Inn. My wife had seen it on our trips to Berwick and looking on Trip Advisor we saw that it had good reviews. Well they weren't mistaken. The welcome was warm and friendly, the service excellent and the food outstanding. My daughter ranked her lasagne as the best she had ever eaten (and she has eaten mine, so that is saying something ;-) ) I started with the whitebait which was moist, meaty and delicious. I had to stop before finishing because with such a generous portion I wouldn't have been able to do justice to my main. I had to beg the waitress to save me from myself. We had the steak and kidney pudding, a rare treat having raised five children who abhor offal. Divine. But to cap it all the carrots tasted, well, like carrot ! I have become so used to tesco's bland vegetables that this came as a surprise. All their produce is apparently local which explains it. I'm afraid none of us can comment on the desserts as we had no room left ! If your looking for five star decor this isn't for you, but if you are interested in five star food I would recommend you dine at the Cat Inn .

Having just made the decision to drive all the way to the highlands with our little dog, we wanted a relatively cheap place to stop en route- This place ticked all the boxes and we were very pleased with the friendly greeting and sampling the lovely homemade food- We were welcomed by the locals who made us feel as welcome as the owners and loved listening to their stories!
We' d defiantly stay here again and would recommend with our friends!!!

I have a nut allergy which can cause problems when finding a place to eat, fortunately me and my family discovered the Cat Inn, The owners are so helpful and cater to dietary needs and make you feel secure in what you can eat there. There is a brilliant warm atmosphere and the food is excellent too. I would recommened anyone in the area to give the Cat Inn a try. Thank you to the Cat Inn for such a great visit.

We have just returned from the perfect break away with friends at The Cat Inn.

Location
On a busy road but the perfect location for getting around and seeing the sights! What's more it has panoramic views from the front.

Food
Excellent from the fabulous perfectly cooked breakfast to the wonderful evening meals. It you want quantity as well as quality then this is the place for you. The homemad meals and amazing desserts are to die for and are just what you need after a day exploring.

Staff
The welcome from Paul, Marion and Jenny was second to none. We were made to feel at home straight away and even found ourselves enjoying great times with the locals who really made us feel part of the fittings.

Rooms
The en-suite rooms were clean, bright and had everything you could need.

If you really wanted to critisise this little gem then you could, It is not for those looking for a salubrious boutique hotel but if a warm welcome, comfortable room and great food are what you are looking for then this is the perfect base!

We would definitely return if we are in the area.

Room Tip: Do ensure that you print off the map! We relied on our Sat Nav but the post code for The Cat Inn...
