“Beautiful and Serene with Southern Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Ashford Manor is a Victorian-style bed-and-breakfast, very charming and unique. Each room has it's own theme. The grounds are very beautiful and the southern hospitality from the Innkeepers was delightful, they are caring, and so knowledgeable. The breakfast, which Mario & David made on my departing morning was "to die" for (Crème Brulee French Toast). Mario also set us up with an appointment at the "Wild Child" art studio, across the street from the Manor and we were able to have a delightful experience with clay, and made some pottery for a very small fee. Michelle's "Spring Renewal" was wonderful and refreshing experience. It was my first time that I was able to attended. I learned a lot and am excited to apply it in my life. I'm looking forward to next year. Thank you all for a very memorable time. Laura W.

I want to go back in the Spring! This beautiful place will be so much more so, in the spring, but I throughly enjoyed it , just the way it was. Our room was The Cottage Gallery, and it lived up to the Gallery name. So many great pieces that there's no way that you could ever take them all in. Beauty, unique, weird, fanciful, hypnotic, and more, but what a pleasure anyway you looked at it and the Innkeepers were delightful, caring, and so knowledgeable. The breakfast, which Mario prepared and brought to our cottage was scrumptious. I believe that I have come up with enough adjectives but it just takes so many to describe how lovely this almost "out of the way" place offers.

Stayed here this past weekend with three college friends for a Ladies' weekend. It could not have been better - it was the highlight of our trip. The manor is beautiful with eclectic decoration, and pretty grounds. The thing that set this place apart was the service - Mario was so welcoming and helpful. The creme brulee french toast for breakfast is to die for! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Just fantastic. If I'm ever near here again, I'll be staying here for sure.

Ashford Manor is a Victorian-style bed-and-breakfast centrally located in Watkinsville, Georgia, just outside Athens, GA, making it convenient to University of Georgia activities. There are a variety of room types decorated in different motifs as well as larger apartments with cooking facilities, although you won’t want to miss the gourmet breakfasts! Innkeepers Dave and Mario are very hospitable and clearly living their dream of restoring an old home into a unique and comfortable place to host travelers and events. The property is beautifully landscaped and is a popular spot for weddings, receptions, and summer concerts-on-the-lawn. The town itself is growing and developing some excellent restaurants. Just across the street from Ashford Manor are Girasoles and Mirko’s Pasta for lunch and dinner, The Big Easy for a Southern breakfast, Jittery Joe’s for excellent coffee, and a wonderful bakery, The Granary. Haven’t tried Chops and Hops yet but it’s been highly recommended by local residents.

In search of an escape from the cold gloomy days of Indiana we came upon Ashford Manor! This was a delightful stay and was much more than we were expecting. The Garden Room was so cozy and interestingly decorated, fresh flowers in our room, coffee on the veranda just outside our room, (how elegant we felt), a relaxing walk around the beautiful grounds, everything we were hoping for on this trip. The lawns were lovely, and a walk before breakfast was so pleasant. Breakfast was so attractive and delicious, scrambled eggs, bacon, muffins, fresh OJ and all the coffee we could hold. Our hosts couldn't have been nicer, or more welcoming, this was true" Southern Hospitality". This was a highlight on a wonderful trip enjoying the Antebellum trail through Georgia. We look forward to a return trip, and another visit to Ashford Manor.

We only were able to stay one night...but it was terrific! The house is very attractive and well maintained. We sat in the living room, enjoyed some Frank Sinatra jazz, and the honor bar. It was delightful. Our room was "the garden room" on the first floor near the kitchen. Initially, I was concerned we would hear more than we wanted from within the house. But by bedtime all was quiet and the thoughtfully provided sound machine covered any extraneous sounds. The bed room itself was very large and comfortable. The bathroom was quirkily filled with mirrors of all types - and we loved the effect. The highlight was breakfast! We were asked when we wanted to eat and we said 9AM. We walked the few steps from our room to the lovely dining room and we were immediately greeted. Food followed quickly and it was delicious! Fresh eggs scrambled, fresh squeezed OJ, crisp bacon, lovely fruit, and a very tasty scone. We loved it! The pricing was very reasonable and we agreed that on our next trip to the Athens area - we'd stay at Ashford Manor. The fact it's located a short 15 minute drive to the center of Athens was the final treat.
