“Relax in Luxury!”

Washington Plantation Bed and Breakfast

Jan 11, 2008

Tom and Barbara are the host and hostess with the most! Their rooms are charming and elegant, yet welcoming and homey. Bfast and dinner are served on the best china, with the best crystal; however, the environment is as comfortable as being at home. The food is fabulous, varied and plenty. We had a fabulous one night stay. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer!

My husband and I visited the Washington Plantaion B&B for New Year's Eve. What an experience! Tom and Barbara are the most gracious people we have ever met, they really enjoy what they are doing. For example, there was not many options for New Year's Eve in Washington so the Chases offered to fix dinner for us and the 2 other couples staying in their home. I'm so glad! We stayed indoors, nice and warm, and had the most delicious dinner. Breakfast???? Nothing in the world like it! I was expecting something special but I never thought of how special it would be. DELICIOUS!!!!!!! If you are planning a trip to the South don't pass through Washington, GA without staying at the Washington Plantation Bed and Breakfast! The house is beautiful, the rooms are very comforable, and Tom and Barbara are very informative and a lot of fun!

“First Class Comfort With a Down Home Attitude”

Washington Plantation Bed and Breakfast

Nov 29, 2007

Tom & Babara are what I call "real people"....love them! Being the single traveling woman on a Thanksgiving weekend I needed a cozy safe place to stay for just one evening and The Washington Plantation was exactly that. Need to know local college football statistics...Toms your man. He's also great with the local history of Washington as well as the nearby towns and that man can print up a local map off his computer in the blink of an eye! Now if you enjoy quick wit and sassy comebacks you are going to love Barbara...she made me smile in the first 10 seconds of meeting her; make sure to look close by as Annie (Ms. 3 legged kitty) will be somewhere near to her. Between the evening glass of cold wine and the hot butter biscuits during breakfast I managed to enjoy the fabulous king size bed and fireplace in my room...did I mention the ladybugs? You must ask Barbara about these lovely creatures that adorn the house in the winter. Both Tom and Barbara were giant gems for my quick stay and have made me long to come back in the spring to enjoy their beautiful yard in the colorful splendor that the warmth brings to little country towns. We stayed at the Washington Plantation bed and breakfast for two nights in October 2007. The greeting was one of the nicest and friendliest that we have ever received at any bed and breakfast the world over. Tom and Barbara instantly made us feel at home and so very welcome . They showed us around and even had cold refreshments in a fridge in the hall for the use of guests.

Then Tom showed us to our room . Wow , a beautiful room adorned with fresh cut flowers together with a gorgeous fruit basket was there to greet us . Included in the fruit basket were also some very delicious chocolates. Then we went down to join Tom and Barbara on the front porch where they served us wine and cheese . Now where in the entire world would you get that kind of service , not even at the most expensive hotel we think .

Over drinks Tom and Barbara told us all about the local area and what we should see. The advice that they gave us was accurate and saved us so much time. They also gave us a good history overview about the house and the original plantation.

We went out to dinner again to an establishment on the advice from our hosts and again we were not disappointed.

After a good nights sleep we got up to find that Barbara had left a tray outside of our room with fresh made banana bread and some orange juice as a wake up treat. Then down to breakfast which is something to behold. We are northerners from Canada so we felt really bad to have to tell Tom that grits were not for us , but just as well because the breakfast that was to come was for sure the best breakfast that we have ever encountered anywhere in our extensive travels. The table was set so elegantly and decorated with fresh cut flowers such that we thought royalty must be coming to breakfast . There were fresh muffins a plenty and great yoghurt . The next course was a fruit salad that would put any artist to shame . The main breakfast meal was different both days and served on a platter that was surrounded by various fruits cut into flower shapes. We clearly remember the tulips made out of slices of canteloupe and melon with the stems cut out of the rind of watermelon. You have to see this to believe it.

In conclusion , if you are reading this review , just go to Washington Plantation to see for yourself . It is absolutely one of the nicest B & Bs that we have been to and so friendly and welcoming. Don't miss it .

Thank you Barbara and Tom for keeping such high standards . Thank you also for our wonderful stay with you.

What a delightful two days my daughter and I spent at the Washington Plantation Bed and Breakfast. Hosts Tom and Barbara Chase made us feel so welcome and at home. The breakfasts were well worth the price of the room, served on an elegantly laid out table complete with silver, crystal and even candlelight at breakfast. We plan to make a return visit. Our hosts provided for any eventuality, as the rooms had any and everything that you could possibly want during your stay. Even sitting on the large wraparound porch at night listening to the crickets was part of the total experience.
After a trip to the Wilkes County GA Historical Society, I discovered that my great grandfather had served in the Civil War in the Irvin Guard Artillery Unit. How surprised I was to learn that the home that houses the Washington Plantation Bed and Breakfast was the original home of the Irvin family.
Overall it was a delightful experience and I highly recommend it to others. Joan and Julie
