“Great way to spend a morning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

My husband and I had a very nice time visiting Callaway plantation. Our guide was very good and made the tour interesting and fun. We loved having the guided tour of the big house for an introduction and then being able to explore the rest of the plantation on our own. I've heard that they have a wonderful festival at the plantation for "Mule day," but it is also very pleasant to have the whole place to yourself.

“Nice for a Sunday Stroll”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2012

We were in town on a Sunday so unfortunately the plantation was not open. However, we were able to walk around the grounds, take pictures, and peek in the windows.
While we were exploring, a Callaway family member happened to drive by. She pulled in and spoke with us for a bit. It was very nice.

“Excellent plantation tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2011

Olivia is very friendly and most knowledgeable having lived in the area all her life. We have been to Callaway twice and discover new things each time.

“Interesting and Informative Historic Plantation Home Tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2011

Great tour of a historic Plantation Home. After the tour you could visit homes, a school house, and other buildings on the grounds. The "Mule Days" festival is held on Oct 8th 2011 which looks very interesting. There are several small museums in downtown Washington, that are worth visiting.

“Could have stayed all day!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2011

Upon arrival to the Old Country store on the Plantation the docent was very hospitable and friendly, just your typical southern lady. She knew her history and the small things about the plantation that make the big things interesting. The tour of the brick house (mansion) took a little over an hour. I was there with my sister and there was a family with children aged 3 and 6 who seemed to enjoy the educational aspects as well as how different it is from the present. My sister and I had to leave after the first two hours, but plan to return for a full day.
