I usually stay at the Hilton Garden Inn when visiting Warner Robins. This time I stayed at this location due to my high school reunion being held in the conference center. First of all, I will say that for Warner Robins, the conference center is top notch stuff as there is more than likely nothing nearby to compete with it. I was impressed. Now for the hotel, the room we stayed in was nice and clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and the curtains closed tightly not allowing any light. The room was quiet with no hallway noise. The downside is that there is no full service restaurant for breakfast, or for that matter anytime of day. There is a "bistro" with limited service and a limited menu. On the second morning of my visit, I found that while sitting in the restaurant for breakfast, I could not get anyone to wait on me, yet there was a cashier in the bistro, pretty much not doing much of anything. I had to get up and go get a cup of coffee from the lobby. While passing through there, I asked the front desk if table service was the norm in the bistro. I was told that table service is the norm. The front desk attendant then calls to the bistro cashier and asks her to wait on me when I return to the bistro. Well, I did get waited on. I received an egg white and spinach omelet on a heated bagel. It was ok. Well now for the coffee, on the first morning there, I stopped by the lobby and served myself a cup of coffee from the pot that was in the lobby. When I finished my coffee, I went back down to the lobby for another cup of coffee. It was now about 10:20 AM. Well, the pot was out of coffee. I went to the front desk and asked if they could change out the coffee urn. I was informed that even though it was a Saturday morning, that after 10:00 AM, when the urn was out of coffee, I would have to go to the Bistro and PURCHASE a cup of Starbucks coffee. I was told that this ONE time, they would comp me a cup of coffee at the bistro. You gotta be kiddin me! Saturday morning, 10:20 AM and I'm in the lobby of an upscale Courtyard Marriott and the ONLY choice for coffee is that I have to BUY a cup of expensive Starbucks coffee? Guess what, if I was at the Hilton Garden Inn right down Watson Blvd, I wouldn't be getting that story! They would be gladly filling my coffee cup with COMPLIMENTARY coffee any time of the day, especially on a Saturday morning! This place is really, really nice, but they need to be very careful not to alienate their client base that is used to staying at the HGI just down the road! The conference center cannot be beat in Warner Robins, but the hotel hospitality certainly can be. Just go down to the HGI during breakfast time and check it out! You'll get the picture.
