We first spent a week at Orange Lake in Kissimmee and although the kids had a great time, all they can remember about the trip was the 4 day Disney cruise we went on following this aboard the majestic Disney Wonder!
This was the first time my family went on a cruise and of course Disney has now set the bar. I have to say that I was a little apprehensive about going on a cruise. I worried about motion sickness, my kids falling overboard etc. etc. I have to admit on the first day, I FELT the boat move and don't anyone tell you otherwise - you will feel it at the beginning. Maybe it was because we were going against the waves? All night the coat hangers were clinking in the closet due to the motion. By the next day however it didn't bother me at all.
I have to keep this review short (normally I wrote a 10 page essay) but trust me when I say you will not be dissapointed. The food, service and entertainment was second to none. At the Bahamas we got off the boat and visited the village (flea market) right at the dock and the got back on the boat. Castaway Cay was amazing, the beach was beautiful, we had so much fun and the bbq lunch they had for us was excellent. Service was 5 star, they really do deserve their tips and trust me they work so hard the entire time.
The only disappointments I would say is the kids pool - there was only 2 (Mickey and Goofy Pools) and they were small, super crowded and looked dirty (what do you expect with the amount of kids in there!). The chlorine levels were high (couldn't blame them) but our kids who normally love swimming, didn't care for the pools. My other complaint would be the Oceaneer Club (Kids Club) when you walk in, you would expect a warm and bright room, instead they have stuck with the "ocean" theme and the place is poorly lit and not as kid friendly as I would have expected from Disney (I would have expected it to look like you are walking into the Magic Kingdom, with colour and characters everywhere). My daughter also got hurt on the last day (hit in the face with a hula hoop) and not one counsellor had the sense to put ice on her rapidly swelling lip. For my infant daughter, we chose to not drop her off at the Flounders Reef Nursery. To me it looked small and a little depressing, The care givers sat on the floor of a tiny room and kids were in their laps or just doing their thing. Again I would have liked a larger, more welcoming room. I also noticed at least one man working in the nursery (person checking you in and bringing the kids to the back) and I found that surprising. Normally I would expect all females in a infant/toddler room.
The rooms were a generous size, the shows will BLOW YOU AWAY and I can't wait to see my kids faces light up again when we take them on their next cruise. I hate to say it, but I think anything else other than Disney will be a disappointment to them. I am so glad we were so fortunate to experience such a fantastic trip. Please contact me if you have ANY questions, I will be more than happy to answer them. Good luck and happy cruising!
