I was a little nervous entering the property. It sits a few miles off the main road and check-in is located in a little cottage outside of the security gate. Well, the guest services staff put me at ease. They were wonderful! Seeing that I was traveling alone, they made sure I was in a comfortable location. I wonder if security was asked to check on me -- I saw them and chatted all the time. Needless to say, my whole experience was fantastic.

When I entered the 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit, I noticed the open floor plan with carpeting and hardwood flooring. The kitchen was very nice with colorful cook- and dinnerware. The functional kitchen made it easy to prepare meals. I ate breakfast many days on the screened-in verandah. The view was truly breathtaking. My master bedroom and living room looked out onto Lake Tara. To wake up every morning with a view of the lake and go to bed every night looking at the stars was fabulous! I didn’t want to leave my unit. Nice décor throughout.

Fairfield Plantation appears to be a mixture of timeshare property and private residences. Everyone shares the amenities, but that didn’t seem to be a problem.

The only downfall was that I had to drive near the check-in area to get a cell phone signal. There were telephones in the unit, but I elected to make long distance calls with my cell.

This resort caters to a variety of travelers. I saw elderly couples, families with young children, young couples – it is just a warm, welcoming place. Highly recommended!!

Hubby & I came down for our 3rd anniversary and for Dragon*Con. This location was absolutely wonderful!

Just returned from the Plantation at Villa Rica. it is a very comfortable and beautifully furnished cottage among luxury homes around Lake Tara. There is a lovely 18 hole golf course on site which is very private and is surrounded by all the homes and forest..Other Amenties include 2 outdoor pools . the nicest being at the rec centre. a sandy beach and a full serviced marina.

It is located 45 minutes west of Atlanta of I20, Exit 24 just south of town of Villa Rica by 10 minutes and about 15 minutes north of large town of Carrolton which has all your grocery and shopping needs. Best resturant in area closest to Resort is O'Charleys at I 20 and 61 cutoff. Best mall( ARBOUR MALL) at I20 exit 36 towards Atlanta.

Atlanta of course has everything u need plus tourist sites. The Georgia Aquarium is worth the admission price, CNN tour, World of Coke, the Olympic Park, Braves Baseball, Six Flags. U will not be disapointed with this selection for a vacation getaway!

For those trading timeshares, note that this property, forty-five minutes west of Atlanta, has 48 units, only 12 of which are directly on the lake. Gold Crown rated by RCI. If you are booked into the Gardens you are across the street from the lake among residents in a treed setting. We were on the lake and the view was incredible. You have a screened-in porch with two paddle fans for taking it all in. The unit is nicely furnished with good solid furniture and nice artwork. TVs in bedrooms and living room. Kitchen has all the utensils you'd ever need. Washer dryer and jacuzzi. Fishing is right outside the door (if you have the right bait - I obviously didn't!) There is a separate fishing lake too. There's also a marina, recreation area, golf and country club. Keep in mind you are almost an hour from Atlanta and when you enter the main gate you have about a ten-minute drive to get to your unit. Only after several days did I discover an east gate, but you need a good map to navigate back to main roads. When using this and going south to Callaway Gardens, part of the route to I-85 was a gravel road. All-in-all, a wonderful, peaceful place to stay.
