“Amazing All Around!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

We drove from Tampa to see a band that was playing on Saturday evening. We came to Steel Magnolia's (off the reviews online) on Friday evening. We made a reservation earlier in the day. Our table was ready & waiting when we arrived. Our waitress, Jess, was fantastic. You could tell she was just really genuinely happy to be there. Knew the specials, gave us her recommendations and ample time to browse the drink/food menus. We actually asked to move to a different table before ordering so that we could sit next to each other on the super cool wall bench that extends the whole length of the dining area. The atmosphere is perfect, the kitchen is completely open in the front of the restaurant, which can also be viewed from outside as it's all glass in the front...their ventilation sytem but be high quality because you didn't get any of the kitchen oil/over smell...just the yummy food scent wafting through the air. The scallops & pork belly was great. The short ribs are to die for & there's enough for a family! Appetizer musts are the Deviled Eggs & Pork Belly & Pimento Cheese Wontons...AMAZING!!! Even their house wine was delicious. We were there on an evening where it was very chilly out ( high 30's ) and even after the rooftop bar was closed & locked up, they were still more than happy to take us up for a tour, of that and the banquet/rental area on the 2nd floor which was gorgeous. The bathroom was even amazing. Such a warm, welcoming southern gem. The owner came over to check on us during our meal...make us feel very welcome and appreciated. We will definitely be back when we come to visit again. Great place...from the moment you walk in until you walk back out. Nice work!!

Excellent food/service and menu choices Weather permitting, the roof top is an excellent area to dine or enjoy a cocktail. We visit when traveling from Atlanta to Fl frequently. You must make this a stop during your travels

“What a jewel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

The food is excellent and of a quality usually found in larger metro areas. The menu is well balanced. The appetizers are larger than usually found in such high quality restaurants. Not a bad thing, just be aware in terms of overall ordering. They have a roof top bar/dining area providing a comfortable atmosphere for a drink after dinner. Live music the night I was there. Will return without hesitation

“unique dining experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Fantastic little restaurant, great open kitchen, interesting decor. Was with a party of 5 so we all tried some thing different. The menu has unique menu options and pretty tasty. The menu prices were on the higher side… my only complaint is that the service did not match the food prices. The staff is probably local college kids, (jeans and tee shirts)- timid to make suggestions and not knowledgeable about the wines or pairings. However the drink selections were nice and the creme brûlée had a perfect glaze!!

“My new favorite restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013 via mobile

Stopped in for lunch today while in Valdosta. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. We ordered the deviled egg appetizer to share. I had the turkey hoagie with fresh greens and hubby ordered the burger of the day which included bacon and pimento cheese. We enjoyed the ambiance and the food was very good. We'll definitely be back to try some other things on the menu and also to try the rooftop dining for dinner. It's great to find a local place that is so good.
