We drove from Tampa to see a band that was playing on Saturday evening. We came to Steel Magnolia's (off the reviews online) on Friday evening. We made a reservation earlier in the day. Our table was ready & waiting when we arrived. Our waitress, Jess, was fantastic. You could tell she was just really genuinely happy to be there. Knew the specials, gave us her recommendations and ample time to browse the drink/food menus. We actually asked to move to a different table before ordering so that we could sit next to each other on the super cool wall bench that extends the whole length of the dining area. The atmosphere is perfect, the kitchen is completely open in the front of the restaurant, which can also be viewed from outside as it's all glass in the front...their ventilation sytem but be high quality because you didn't get any of the kitchen oil/over smell...just the yummy food scent wafting through the air. The scallops & pork belly was great. The short ribs are to die for & there's enough for a family! Appetizer musts are the Deviled Eggs & Pork Belly & Pimento Cheese Wontons...AMAZING!!! Even their house wine was delicious. We were there on an evening where it was very chilly out ( high 30's ) and even after the rooftop bar was closed & locked up, they were still more than happy to take us up for a tour, of that and the banquet/rental area on the 2nd floor which was gorgeous. The bathroom was even amazing. Such a warm, welcoming southern gem. The owner came over to check on us during our meal...make us feel very welcome and appreciated. We will definitely be back when we come to visit again. Great place...from the moment you walk in until you walk back out. Nice work!!
