We have been to Sundae Cafe many times and always enjoyed our food very much and usually enjoyed good service. While in Tybee last week, we ate here twice. The first was for dinner and the service was good, not great. Also, the seafood bisque, something I always order at Sundae, was not up to par. A little bland and not the usual to-die-for experience! At lunch on Friday we found, as some other posters have mentioned that it's seat yourself at lunch now, something we found out after standing and being ignored for 10 minutes. The lunch itself was very disappointing: the grouper was overcooked, the hushpuppies had definitely been around for a while and were thoroughly nuked before serving, making them tough and rubbery-not good at all. The worst was the cheese grits, the grits were not seasoned with anything, were tasteless, and were barely warm, not warm enough to melt the sparse sprinkling of cheese on top. I hope this is not an indication of things to come at this place we have loved for years. We were told by our server that the owners are opening a sports bar on Tybee this spring. I hope they don't spread themselves too thin.
