This is a modern yet beachy, very comfortable condo. It has a LOT of space, with large bedrooms and bathrooms and an open living area. Each bath has a long, spacious double vanity and separate shower and jacuzzi tub, plus a johnny closet for added privacy. The master bath has a large walk-in closet. Toilet paper is provided. Each bedroom and the family room (plus open kitchen) has an ocean view. The two king beds are comfortable. The twins are a little firm. You might want to bring your own pillow. Bedrooms have thick drapes to keep out the morning sun. The TVs in the bedrooms are small, but there's a large flat screen in the family room with all main cable channels (minus HBO and SHO.)
Linens including bath towels are provided, which is a huge plus. The washer and dryer worked well. Bring detergent.
The kitchen is modern and has everything you need to cook and eat-in. A nice touch is the quiet dishwasher. Dish soap, detergent, napkins and a roll of paper towels are provided.
The balcony is large. It has several chairs, a small table, and a gas grill. My only complaint was that when seated, I couldn't see much of the ocean over the balcony wall. We did see a lot of dolphins.
There are also some beach chairs, an umbrella, and sand toys provided. You can also rent them on the beach.
The wifi was a little slow, but during our stay, we got an automated call that said it was being upgraded to a faster service.
This unit offers other amenities that solve some common beach annoyances:
--You get two parking spots, one marked and one unmarked, right next to the elevator. The garage is secured by an automated door, and many people left their beach gear behind their cars.
--The elevator serves only 6 units and opens directly into your condo. Very cool and no waiting. There's also an entrace from the stairs.
--The condo is right on the beach. You can get from your room to the waves in 60 seconds. There's also a lifeguard and umbrella/chair rental stand.
--The pool is oceanfront, and the kids can easily move back and forth between the two, as well as run up to the condo to go to the bathroom or grab a sandwhich. There were always plenty of open chairs. Bring your own pool umbrella.
--Closeness to stores and restaurants: A convenience store, liquor store, ice cream and pizza are a short walk away. A beach shop with tshirts, boards, etc. is directly across the street.
If you've never been to Tybee, it's a lot different than Myrtle or Hilton Head. It's all houses, condos and a few small hotels. There are no high rises. There's one IGA grocery store that's small but well stocked. There are a handlful of restaurants. We enjoyed AJ's Dockside. Arby's is the only fast food on the island. We were there in early June and neither the beach nor the restaurants were crowded.
Checking in and out at Sandy's By The Shore was fast and easy. Very friendly. You can reserve this unit online, but if you don't pay in full, you'll have to call to make the final payment. There's a due-by date for making the final payment, so don't forget. I'm not sure if you'll get a reminder email.
