“Funkadelic charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We drove by Gerald's Pig & Shrimp several times before we stopped in, and we are so glad we did. The low country boil was perfectly cooked and seasoned; the sauteed shrimp and fried oysters combo, with sides of fried okra and cucumber salad, rated really good to fabulous. It's outdoor eating without heat, hassle or bugs. Lots of signs with sayings posted on the posts....funky and charming, it's well worth it. Not open every day outside season and closed from December to February.

“Best Fried Shrimp”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

This place doesn't look like much from the street, but the food was awesome! Even though there were only two waiters who also served as bartenders, and all the tables were full, the service was great. We got the combo with fried shrimp, fried oysters, brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and hush puppies. The fried shrimp was to die for and the hush puppies were the best we've ever had. The rest of the food was also very good. Make sure you check their hours before you go. They were only open Thursday through Sunday when we were on Tybee. Also, it's outdoor seating only. They also do carryout.

“Rude waiter!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013 via mobile

We visited Gerald's one evening while it was raining. The island was completely empty and it was just one of those days where we wanted to take food home and relax. We stopped in and placed our order where a nice young lady took our order told us it would be done in 10-15 minutes and we could wait at a table being that half the tables were empty. We went sat down and about two minutes later were told by a very rude male employee that we needed to get out of those chairs and that they were for dine in only. I could understand this if it were a busy day and there was a crowd. It wasn't. It was dead. So we waited 15 minutes at the side of the restaraunt in the rain. I'm really hoping the next visit will be much better than this one.

“Great food, great host”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

We saw this place on our drive from the mainland to the beach, and thought we'd stop by on the way home. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the beginning. We were recommended the fried shrimp, even though they offer other ways of preparing it, and it was amazing. Not only was the shrimp really good, but Gerald's homemade hot sauce added an incredible edge. He was very friendly and we had a great dinner. We are English, so don't mind being outside, but if you're an American who needs A/C, make sure you go in the evening and not in the day!
