“Worst fishing trip ever. Huge ripoff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013 via mobile

Went out with Josh from Capt Dereks. Only caught trash fish. Rods were purchased the night before at Walmart. Paid for off shore trip. Once we were on the boat, he decided to stay inshore, but didn't drop our fee to inshore price. Supposedly the bigger boat we were going to use off shore was booked for something else, but we didn't see "Spear It" leave the dock. No one else there when we left from trip. Called back to office following Monday and they claimed they hadn't booked any fishing trips with Josh. That they never would. All I know is, we got on a fishing boat with Josh and it was an awful experience, upon return he jumped on a dolphin tour boat and took out a group. No one else was at the dock. Either someone is hiding something from their boss, or we just got taken either way, I'd steer clear.

“Nice time”

We took our grandson on this dolphin tour. It was fun, but just be aware that there are not many dolphins to be seen in the winter. We DID see dolphins, just not very many.

We very much enjoyed the dolphin tour! It turned out to be one of the best things we did while on Tybee. The dolphins surfed and played in the boat's wake, Meanwhile Mike's tour was falling behind while trying to follow us and catch a view of our dolphins. The tour guide was a lot of fun and very informative. We stopped near the lighthouse so we could all take pictures. Don't be fooled by the fancy yellow boat on the other side of the highway. This tour was the best. I recommend taking video of the dolphins, they are hard to catch in a picture.

“Dol-Fun Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

This was a wonderful outing. We saw all the Dolphins you could ask for, jumping, surfing, playing, almost as though these guys had them trained. The boat is heavy enough to form a wake the dolphins will play in and jump out of the water. It made for some great photos and a wonderful afternoon. You can really tell these guys work hard to make the trip enjoyable, and have a great understanding of how to get the dolphins to react to the boat.

There are also a few spots to see some great lighthouses and Fort Pulaski from the boat, so it’s more than just dolphins. It was a laid back and fun, great for the whole family.

“Captain Derek's Dolphin Adventure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

We went on a sunset dolphin cruise with Capt. Derek's Dolphin Adventure off of Tybee Island the week of Sept 10, 2012. We heard you saw more dolphins at that time of day than earlier. Its actually on the river (Lazeretto Creek), you dont go out into the open sea, so its not usually real choppy . (warning -though it can still be rough for those sensitive to seasickness). You can bring a cooler, or a sandwich and drink, whatever. But you CAN'T FEED the dolphins. They were everywhere, jumping and stuff; and even saw 3 jump up simultaneously-just like at Seaworld! The captain we had really knew just where to place the boat and how to move it around to attract the most dolphins. Sit at the back, because the dolphins love to jump in the wake of the boat. One thing to remember-these dolphins are really Fast! Try as I might, I couldn't catch a picture; But I did get some great video. So unless you have a fancy camera that is really fast, stick to video. Or have 1 of your party use video and someone else use the camera. It was $18 / person (thats with the $3 more for the sunset cruise); and you are supposed to tip the 1st Mate (the guy/girl who tells you whats going on) They work Only for tips! (we didnt have much cash on us, and I felt bad we couldn't give him more than a few bucks because he was really good.) The captain even invited the only kid on board to come up and pilot the boat! The little boy was thrilled. Everyone was nice and professional. The boat was clean (I didnt see the bathroom, but another lady said it was clean, too). The seats aren't too comfortable, but not bad. Everyone involved was so nice and w had a great time.
