“Classic Old School Savannah Seafood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

Charlie Teeple has been making his living on the water for decades. He runs a little seafood market next to the bridge at Thunderbolt, recently expanded to also deal fresh fruits and vegetables. Every so often he throws an oyster roast or fires up the smoker and lays out a barbecue. But this is one of only two places that Savannah goes to buy fresh seafood. Please be advised that this is not a restaurant; it's a fish market.

“Look past a few rough edges to find a gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

It does not look like much and it even can smell bad when the wind is right after cleaning the days catch but this place has great food in huge portions for those willing to venture in. We had what I thought was a double order of low country boil and fresh crab. My wife and I were more than full at the end and the total check was about $12 with drinks and it was a SINGLE order....fantastic stuff.

If you are scared of anyplace that does not have tableclothss.....or clean chairs then you should pass on by...that will leave more food for us.

“Simple, dirty, stinky but damn good!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2012 via mobile

This backwoods country stop is not for the faint of heart. Your tables and chairs are an eclectic grouping of aged plywood and broken lawn furniture. Your placemats are sections of old savannah newspapers. It stinks of shrimp and fish cleaning stations and you bat away black flies like you are a wimbeldon star. BUT...if you can deal with that you are in for a treat! The BBQ sandwich is simple white bread with great meat. The fried fish and potatoes are wonderful and the fried shrimp is battered to perfection. These southerners take the simple approach to good eats. Also, next-door is a small farmers market, get some georgia peaches for desert!
