“Wouldn't let me in ten Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I stopped by to take a tour of this Inn yesterday Sunday April 15, 2012, 3:40 PM, as we approached the office door we were greeted by a young man. We told him that we wanted to look at some of the rooms to see if we liked them, that way on our next trip to Thomasville we could decide if we wanted to stay there or not. The young opened the door about 12 inches and told us that the rooms were being cleaned up and therefore we could not see them. That was funny because as I noted the time was already 3:40 PM and I would have thought that all rooms would have been cleaned and ready for there guess. We told that we could view their web-site to see everything or just take one of their brochures by the door.

Needless to say, we won't be staying there. Something just didn't seem right. I do have to say that the outside of the property was in very nice shape and well kept. It was a shame that we didn't receive that good old southern hospitality.

Thank you for your review. My staff have been advised not to conduct tours for the following reasons:(1) The rooms must be ready for review in accordance with our AAA Four Diamond Award;(2) When the privacy or safety of our guests could be compromised; and (3) When we have only one staff member on duty. To ensure that future guests can select our lodging property we have a professionally designed web site and have a telephone number posted where walk in guests can contact the innkeeper.

My sister and I were planning a Sisters Weekend and wanted to find a nice place to stay. Thomasville we decided was about half way for each of us so I did a search for places and found the Paxton House. It was not just nice, but incredible!! Gorgeous, spotless and so charming, then you meet Miss Susie and she is a Doll!! We had an amazing time and loved the Garden Cottage downstairs; where we stayed! We each had our own bedroom and bath and there is a living room, dining and kitchen in the cottage. We also had our own porch and the gardens are beautiful!! We so enjoyed visiting with Miss Susie on the porch gazebo and the breakfasts are to die for!! The Paxton House is what you imagine a Bed and Breakfast should be and it is in every way!! We will be going back again, it is the Best!! Thanks Miss Susie and Casey!! We had a wonderful time!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Garden Cottage, which is good if you want more than one bedroom and bath together...

My husband and I have made regular visits to Thomasville, our hometown, to visit our aging parents for many years. One of the highlights of our trips is staying at the lovely Paxton House Inn. The accommodations are beautiful and always shiny and clean. We feel like we're at home in this beautiful inn. Susie has become like family to us and always makes every effort to meet our every need. The morning breakfasts are healthy and delicious, always including the freshest seasonal fruits. The landscaping is breathtaking and well groomed. Visiting the Paxton House is like stepping back in time to the days when luxury and charm were part of the daily southern lifestyle. We highly recommend the Paxton House for a relaxing, southern vacation in a quaint little town.

We stayed at the Paxton House with another couple on a weekend visit to Thomasville. We stayed upstairs in the Garden Cottage and were totally pleased with out accomodatiions, even though, as Susie pointed out, "they were the cheapest ones..."

Susie is great - will make sure everything is perfect. And, she'll make you smile a lot. Big hint: Read your confirmation before you arrive - we parked in the wrong place and tried to enter through the wrong door!

Hot, home cooked breakfast was different every morning, and always really good. Susie has a great staff helping her out.

You can't go wrong here - I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Thomasville.

We have traveled all around the world, and will always look at our first Paxton House visit as an experience we will never forget---in fact, we are already planning a return trip! The house and its decor are reminiscent of a time gone by. We enjoyed the equisite details of many of the antiques and fixtures, as well as the architecture of the house itself. Miss Susie, though, made the experience even more authentic, as her personality resonated through the whole property. A stay at the Paxton House is an experience you truly don't want to miss!

This Bed & Breakfast is still the most beautiful, well maintained and friendly accomodation we have ever found. Since the first time we met Susie Sherrod she has been like a favorite relative. I have stayed at her B & B many times with friends as well as my husband. She has great accomodations for a weekend shopping trip with the ladies or for a romantic weekend with your husband. No other Bed abd Breakfast has the personality and warmth of The 1884 Paxton House Inn. Dee Brown

Room Tip: The Carriage House or Grand Suite is a favorite with my husband. The Peach Suite is ideal for a girl...

My husband and I have stayed at B&B's all over the south and this is by far THE BEST! Not only is it clean and beautiful, it's comfortable and you feel like you're at home. Miss Susie has not missed one detail in making her guests feel welcomed. The house is gorgeous and you feel like you're stepping back in time. You can relax on the porches and enjoy the perfectly manicured grounds. Don't hesitate for a minute to stay here... you would miss a gem.
