“Camping at Stone Mountain”

I camped at stone mtn with my son during a cub scout camping trip. There were around 90 of us. The facilities were great and the staff was very accomidating. We enjoyed many activities. There was plenty of wonderful things to see and do that would be great for children and adults. I would recomend this vacation spot to anyone, and I would definately return.

“Stone Mountain is a must for all families!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

After passing through this area on our way to Florida every year we finally decided to stop and we were all so glad that we did! We have 4 children ages 8 months to 11 years and they all had a great time and were able to enjoy everything there was. They were just starting the Christmas season celebrations so we caught all the lights and festivities - what fun! The Polar Express 4d experience was fun, too. We rode the christmas train and got to see all the lights, etc. With all of that fun we all agreed that the trip to the top of Stone Mountain and walking around on top with the views below was the highlight. It was incredible!
Highly reccommend for families of all ages :)

“Best part of our trip to Atlanta: Should allow more time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

We like easy hiking when we go on quick vacations. Stone Mountain was the ticket. The 'walk' up the mountain is pretty easy for 75% of the way and gets a bit more challenging toward the top. We brought a picnic lunch and found a secluded spot where we could sit on a flat boulder and enjoy the meal. (BTW, alcholic beverages aren't allowed on the walk.)

We chose to take the ariel tram down the mountain and then walked to a great photo position with the stone relief in back.

My wife and I both agree that we should have allowed about 4 hours to enjoy the park. There's lots to explore and enjoy.

“Definitely worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

We decided to check out Stone Mountain Park on a Saturday during our stay in Alpharetta. We got to Stone Mountain Park a little later than expected, so we were not able to enjoy all of the activities that it has to offer. It probably didn't help that we visited the day that the fall pumpkin festival commenced, along with a chili cook-off, which I'm sure brought in additional people to the site. However, we were still able to enjoy a Ride-the-Ducks tour, which is always fun. During this tour, we learnt quite a bit about the Stone Mountain area. We capped off our evening with the Lasershow Spectacular, which was an amazing sight to see. The lasershow was very enjoyable to watch, and it was very well choreographed with a lot of southern music (from Georgia especially).

We would highly recommend visiting Stone Mountain Park, especially if you have a family with children, as there are many activities for them to experience. We will definitely be returning on future trips to the Atlanta area and look forward to experiencing a full day at Stone Mountain Park.
