The diversity of exhibits and the many interesting stories which the museum relates make for a superb visitor experience.
The museum places the motor car in a social context with ample tangible evidence showing how things have changed over time.
The onset of the twentieth century met a world that had not yet been introduced to the phenomenon known as the motor car. Today, it is difficult to imagine a world without it.
Modern day built-in obsolescence clears the way for newer, more stylish and increasingly sophisticated vehicles with museum preserved examples serving as a record of road transport heritage for posterity and public appreciation.
Thank you for visiting and helping the museum fulfill its mission.

“Shooting chrome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

I wanted to get some photos of classic cars & visited Lakeland on a recent trip. From the start, the staff were really nice, They were more than happy for me to photograph their cars & bikes. There's loads to see [and photograph] I spent hours browsing the exhibits. I wasn't too sure what was in the bluebird exhibit across from the museum but I was really happy I found out & got a few more shots there too. I'll definitely be visiting again on my next passing. Well worth the admission.

See some of the shots I took here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/gregmanchester/sets/72157632017993854/

The Lakeland Motor Museum is a photographers paradise in that there so many interesting exhibits displayed in a thoroughly imaginative manner.
We encourage people to take as many images as they wish and encourage them to circulate to friend and family as the museum displays create many enduring memories.
The Campbell Bluebird Exhibition is an integral part of the museum experience and a not to be missed story of brave individuals Sir Malcolm and son Donald who between them captured 21 world land and water speed records for Great Britain in the Bluebird series of boats and cars.
Many thanks for visiting and for your kind review.

“Definitely worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Combined a visit to the Museum with a lake cruise which I felt was really good value for money.

The place looks quite small from the outside but it is like a tardis inside crammed with really interesting exhibits (whether you are into cars or not). The Bluebird section is also fascinating. My personal favourite though was the lovely little period caravan outside.

Nice cafe for lunch or a snack and the bus taking you to and from the lake stops directly outside.

Definitely give yourself a few hours to see everything.

Thank you for visiting and for your review.
We are delighted that you consider the Lakeland Motor Museum to be well worth a visit.
Almost everyone that visits has a favourite exhibit.
It's an eclectic collection with something for everyone, creating enduring memories.
When a visit to the museum is combined with a scenic cruise on Lake Windermere it makes for a great value full day experience.
Cafe Ambio is an absolute delight serving morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea.
We are much more than just a motor museum with many interesting stories and numerous surprises. The Lakeland Motor Museum has been part of the Lake District's tourism offering for over 30 years. It's a not to be missed experience and provides a perfect day out for all the family.

Thank you for visiting the Lakeland Motor Museum's Cafe Ambio.
This is a fantastic facility and has established an excellent reputation among locals and visitors to The LAKES.
The cafe is run as a separate business to the Lakeland Motor Museum and has its own listing on TripAdvisor. I am certain that they would very much appreciate you posting a review on their own page.
Hopefully the next time you visit the cafe you may also find time to view the museum. We are not sure if you have visited before but if so please be advised that as we undertake continuous exhibit rotation there is always something new and interesting for returning visitors.
