“Very Nice, but miss the previous charm.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

I have stayed at the Cloister for over 20 years. The rooms are very spacious and luxurious. The Service staff members are very attentive. The beach is pristine. Having said that, I was a bit disappointed in the restaurants. The Italian may have been ok for pizza but the remainder of the entrees were average at best with very above average prices. The breakfast in the Georgian room was excellent, but the Georgian room was closed on Sunday night. The beach club was closed for renovation. The old Cloister had a large dining room, you were given a specific table, the wait staff and host/hostess were there year after year and always remembered you. I will always remember Winston. Alternatively the Beach Club had a great buffet you could dine in. It is a shame this aspect was not preserved. The tennis courts are well maintained. The fitness center is first rate. Overall, the Cloister is still a top notch facility

“Top to bottom, simply the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

The staff and service and FOOD at the Cloisters is first rate. The rooms (stayed in south wing) are great, and the golf and amenities are nice, but two things make this one of the best places to stay in the country: the staff and the food. Be prepared to eat and eat and eat some more. Do not pass up any seafood item and go ahead and taste all deserts. Over the top.

Room Tip: Lots of options. Many people prefer to stay in the Lodge. Check it all out. Prices will vary.

“Ultimate escape in luxury!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Worth every penny! From the time you enter the gates you feel like royalty and are treated the same. The rooms are large and beautifully appointed. The bath and dressing area are as large as many hotel rooms. Each room has a balcony overlooking the famous marshes of Georgia. A perfect spot for a liesurely breakfast. For spa lovers, the spa is the best I have ever experienced.

The facility recently changed ownership. I will return soon and hope to find they have maintained the traditional Southern hospitality and quality service I have experienced in the past.

Room Tip: I prefer the northern wing.

“Mother/Daughter Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

We were guests at the Cloister a few weeks ago for a mother/daughter getaway. Our room was luxurious and comfortable with picturesque river views.

This Mediterranean style property, nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Black Banks River, is a one-of-a-kind destination. The on site spa is a must see and the Georgian Room will not disappoint. However, Colt & Alison, at The Lodge, has the best filet mignon that I have had - ever! Needless to say, dessert was a scrumptious Gold Brick Sundae.

The magnificent facilities, spectacular gardens and unsurpassed level of personal service blend seamlessly to create this Forbes Five-Star Resort and many delightful memories. Interestingly enough, the lone bagpiper silhouetted against the setting sun is the memory that lingers with me.

Room Tip: My preference is a corner room in the Cloister.

“Another World”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Just returned from an enchanting stay at the Cloister. Had a third floor room overlooking the marsh, thick walls made sleeping a dream (pardon the pun), little touches throughout the room such as vanity seats in the bathroom, double bathroom doors for privacy, a cigar room to die for in the main hotel. Food was outstanding as was the service. Breakfast was limited to the formal dining room which was one of the few downsides. Spa for both women and men was five star as were the grounds. We will be annual visitors to the Cloister.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as close to the main lobby as possible, otherwise you will be in for a hike.
