“Cloister is best place on earth.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Beautiful grounds, suites and spa. Everything is first rate. It is a bit pricey but a place you will never forget. The staff caters to you without being over the top. Tons of things to do. Just a beautiful place to visit.

“Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

I hate to write this review as I really don't want to give up the location of this wonderful resort. Our family found Sea Island as we were searching desperately for a five star family resort like the Breakers. Well, we found it. Gorgeous grounds, lots too do, great food and Southern Hospitality!

“Tavola & River Bar”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

Tavola was actually a nice surprise. Veal cheeks & risotto w/scallops were outstanding. Alfredo sauce was lacking a great deal however the manager did a good job with service recovery and the evening ended well.

The River Bar was just plain average. Menu was not very creative and the service just OK. Average is not the expectation from a five star resort.

“Georgian Room - Imaginative Food at a Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

First the good news. My wife and I found the food to be imaginative and extremely well prepared. Service was attentive and overall excellent We had the Chef's Tasting and the 6 courses and paired wines were uniformly great. The wine list is a trophy hunter's delight. Fun to discuss the list with Jacob Gragg, the sommelier. My wife was very intrigued with the purse stools set down next to each lady.
The not so good news is that dinner is quite expensive. After taxes and a service charge it was almost $500 for the two of us. Getting into French pricing territory. The wines on the wine list are not bargains but are not too far out of line with high end restaurants.
Would we return? Probably. But not for too many nights in a row.

“Delightful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

The staff are very friendly, recognizing their guests after only one visit. Menu has a varied selection sure to please even the pickiest diner. Shrimp nachos were a real favorite of our group! Be sure to order the house wine, it's fantastic!
