A few notes here. To start, this place is a must stop on your trip to the island. Its a great set-up (old service station) and the food is good. Now you must also understand that I am the type of guy that will eat a huge lunch/dinner but then see a bbq place on the side of the road and still stop to give it a try...I love bbq that much. With that being said, I've had a lot of bbq in my life. I know what I like and feel I have pretty good knowledge of bbq. So.....this place is REALLY good....but not the best I've ever had. We had a huge sampler platter and tried the pork, ribs, & brisket, along with potato salad, fried okra. The pork was great, the ribs were great (use a drier rub, but it is sweet as they use lots of brown sugar and honey). The brisket was not very good; so you Texas folks don't try that. Okra was very good, potato salad was dry for my taste. As other reviewers have alluded to, the female staff was a little snooty and didn't interact well others. They'd do well to get them a few good older country girls to man the joint instead of the teenage/early 20 crowd.
Again, a must stop right off the loop as you come into the island....look for the smoke! Stick with the ribs & pulled pork and you'll be back!
