My husband and I were at SSI for a 3 night romantic getaway and the Blackwater Grill was recommended to us by a friend as a non-touristy place to visit. Evidently, Guy Fieri visited on his show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" so we looked around and figured that since it wasn't a Diner or a Drive-In, it must be considered a "Dive." Anyway - we ordered the Shrimp & Grits and must say it was unusual but fantastic. Small grits in a tasty gravy with roasted veggies and very spicy sausage (but the gravy was not spicy) that was poured over two triangle grit cakes. We also shared the Low Country Boil, which was fabulous and a fairly good value. Huge local wild white Georgia shrimp with a homemade cocktail sauce. Highly recommend the food. The admophere I'd give as a "4" - and when we walked in, we were asked if we had reservations, even though half the place was empty. So, if you go, perhaps call ahead or try your luck to get a table. You won't regret it.
