As a native of Brunswick, Georgia, I have always been fascinated by the local history. St Simons Island is a treasure trove of historical sites and unique places to visit. The Bloody March is the site where General Oglethorpe's Troop fought with the Spanish. This was a very historic battle. Unfortunately, when visiting the site, you don't get the full impact of the battle. It was said that the battle was so bloody that the marsh turned red because of the blood. Take some time to read about the battle before visiting. I would also suggest that you also visit Fort Frederica to see the impact of General Oglethorpe in the area. Also visit the marsch at high tide for a better view.
