“nice service, bad food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Recently ate there on New Year's Eve. First popped in for a sunset view on the upper deck, which is really just a back open area where the smokers sit and the view is blocked by a condo building. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and menu, but the food was expensive and not good. The reuben was made with what looked and tasted like canned beef, and the thousand island dressing was unrecognizable.....cheap dollar-store brand maybe. Brown sack string fries, no local shrimp or oysters. Menu was weird. I felt like a trapped tourist. Won't go back.

“Bad drinks & not impressed with view”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

My husband and I drove down to the pier on St. Simons Island for a change of scenery. It was a nice evening and the walk along the pier and in the park was very nice. We decided to try out a local restaurant and Blue Water Bistro was right there, so we thought that would be a good place to go. We ate upstairs in the restaurant, ordered appetizers, drinks and a main course. The appetizer was good and the main course wasn't bad (hug portion as stated on the menu, but any substitution will cost you) and the drinks were not good. I sent my drink back because it did not taste right, informed the waiter that I was not happy with the drink, he did not take it off the table and we were charged $11 for the drink that just sat on the table. We were not impressed with the service and we expected a better view of the ocean - the main view was of the hotel and the parking lot next door.

“Good food-great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

I've never had a bad meal at Blue Water....and I've eaten there many times over many years since they've been open. The service is timely/responsive,the food well prepared, reasonably priced, and the best ocean-fishing pier-shipping channel views on St.Simons. The seafood is always freshly prepared and a sometimes overlooked part of the menu is the "Mexican" section...my favorite: fish tacos!

“Great bar - view of pier / water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Been to Blue Water several times, atmosphere is great, closest bar to the pier with great views, great bar to relax and watch games. Food is average. Good Mexican & seafood selection.

“Great Atmosphere, Friendly Staff, Good Food, Great View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

The Blue Water Cantina is located in the Village about 100 yards from the Pier and St. Simon's Sound. Most people choose to eat upstairs where all tables have a clear view of the ocean. With few exceptions Blue Water has one of the best views of any restaurant in the area. The downstairs area doesn't have the great view but is has a great nautical atmosphere with booths and furnishings that appear to have been salvaged from an older restaurant.

Blue Water has more of a pub than restaurant feel, although there is certainly plenty of seating for dining. We all found the food to be good, but not excellent. The overall experience was very good. The cost of the meal was reasonable for the type of restaurant. We found the drinks to be very good. Total cost for two meals including two frozen Margaritas was $54 including tax (not including tip).

I think Blue Water is an excellent location for a fresh cool drink and appetizer between meals. For the younger crowd, it's a great place to hang out. There is also an outdoor area on the roof top. If you're in the Village area at St. Simon's Island, check out Blue Water. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
