“Stank Funky Dog AZZ”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2009

This had to be the worst hotel that I've ever stayed at. From the minute I walked in, I was disgusted. There was a smell in the room that would wake the dead, it smelled like "Stank Funky Dog Azz.." The room looked liked it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. There was dust and dirt everywhere, There was hair on the pillowcases and the sheets, The carpet was filthy, and The bathtub was nasty. I didn't see anyone from housekeeping, the whole time I was there. I wouldn't advise anyone to stay at this hotel, not even a bum from off the corner.

Rude and discourteous management, that says it all... phone calls and e-mails to Studio 6 district and regional offices garnered little response -- first contact person apologized profusely for the boorish behavior of the property manager, assuring me that the regional manger would be in contact, but I never heard from him. In addition, my letter to the Accor corporate office in France was acknowledged, but never followed up on. I would be hesitant to ever stay in any Studio 6 again, and would NEVER stay at the Roswell property again under ANY circumstances.

You are living in a room with roaches, the rooms smell musty, the manager is rude and disrespectful unless you are a male, the light in my room had wires hanging out of it and it was never fixed, until i threatened to call the health department when my son got burned from the wires because they shot out sparks. There is a reason why the prices are cheap. There are prostitutes, drugs, and alcohol all over the property.

This was the least expensive motel for a studio with kitchenette -- $35.57 per night on a weekly basis; otherwise $55.50 per single night. This is a working person's motel, for the jobber on their own expense account wanting to save for other things than better sleeping quarters.

The first two reviews covered the basics accurately as far as the kitchenette. Bring or buy a fry pan & dish detergent to wash up.

One reviewer mentioned no WiFi, no Ethernet in room, but they had WiFi when I stayed there. For $4.95, you purchased a PCI WiFi network key card that got you on the Internet for the duration of your stay, a pretty good deal.

Had a problem with the bottom linens - they came off after every night of sleep and had to be remade. Also had a problem with roaches at the sink until maintenance came to spray them away. And the room had that old, stuffy motel smell that you came home to every night and that couldn't be made to go away, even leaving the door open for an hour.

I thought the TV stations were very basic, with 2 HBO, TNT, USA & Discovery, (plus ESPN & CNN), only 17 channels if that, and ABC was all distorted. No FOX News Network, no standard favorites other than these that you're used to seeing at home.

Put together the kitchen, large fridge-freezer, microwave oven and a low weekly room rate, and a fellow can put up with other discomforts. I know my wife couldn't/wouldn't, but that would cost another $700/month to keep her happy on top of this $1200/month, so I'm happy. I'll put that $700 into a GPS and an XM radio for my car, and a couple dozen roses for her back home.

  • Liked — Inexpensive with inexpensive WiFi connection as well
  • Disliked — Old motel smell, roaches

The new management of this hotel apparently does not understand customer service, their office is open at random hours and several complaints about an inebriated guest located in bldg. #3 went unheeded resulting in a call to the police. My recommendation is to stay at a property with a trained staff.

Follows Studio 6 formula exactly: no desk, but sofa and two-seat dinette area; stove, microwave oven, refrigerator (with small freezer), sink, basic pots, pans, flatware, dishes. Coffee maker plus one coffee set per stay.

Large closet with ironing board and iron.

No hair dryer, no shampoo. One set of linens per week (you can ask for more at desk). One cleaning visit per week. (I actually like not being interfered with daily!)

Television with good mix of cable channels, including 3 HBO-related channels. No Wi-fi, no broadband, but extra phone outlet for dialup.

Washing machines and dryers on the premises. No food service.

In summary: Basic and unpretentious, a comfortable place to sleep, friendly front-desk staff, but NOTHING extra. You get what you pay for, but you get it dependably.
