My wife and I attempted to have lunch at the Oak Street Cafe yesterday and ended up leaving in disgust.
Its been over a year since we last had dinner or lunch at the Oak Street Cafe, and we wanted to go back for their outstanding burgers. We arrived around 12:30, and the place was in total chaos.
There were about 15 people in line waiting to place their orders. There was one woman at the bar taking the orders. Not only was she explaining the menu to the customers, she was placing the orders on the computer, answering the phone, and pouring glasses of wine. Really? You have 15 people in line, and you leave one person to do all this? There were several other staff members walking around, could they have helped her out realizing the bottleneck of people?
After about 20 minutes of waiting in a line that moved very slowly, we left and had lunch somewhere else.
It's a shame because we have always enjoyed lunch and dinner here. Service has always been quick, and the staff friendly. The "regular" staff were no where to be found, which left us wondering if the cafe has been sold or is under new management.
Regardless, during the week most people only have an hour for lunch, and the Oak Street Cafe needs to figure out a better way to handle the lunch time crowds, or they won't have any lunch time crowds.
