This place has been here (apparently)forever but underwent a change from original ownership, a facelift and remodel, and since it was virtually an institution, and as it was participating in a fundraising event, we thought we'd try it at the behest of friends -- even though I suspected it would mean yet just another salad for me. But no: you can't have salad in a place that "doesn't have any lettuce" nor can you have a plain baked potato or even a serving of plain mashed potatoes "with olive oil on the side" when there is no olive oil in the restaurant, anywhere. But instead of telling you this, they bring a small crock with what appears to be liquified Crisco and say nothing. This place is a vegan's worst nightmare; all the "vegetable sides" are cooked with meat or meat product, and it holds the distinction of being the only place I ever felt unwell after eating a cobbled-together vegetarian meal. Don't even think about non-GMO or organic. The restaurant had two (2) typed menus on thin paper for the entire restaurant; the "beer guy" waiter knew nothing about wine, and the wine list consisted of four (4) red and four (4) white; and the waiter brought up the tall broom and pan to lean in the corner adjacent to our table as our party of eight was just tucking into their dessert. Then he plunked down a single ticket for all eight persons at the table, some who had only just been introduced, and left. Nice people, and civic-minded --but really not running a proper restaurant at all, and since this is an advisory review for dining I must advise against dining here, especially for potential vegan patrons-- or anyone who would care as to true healthful quality of the food they consume. Two thumbs down.
