We were pleasantly surprised at the scope and design of the earthworks. It becomes readily apparent why the fort was unbeatable from the water but yet virtually helpless from ground attack. If you are interested in the Civil War you will appreciate the site. Unfortunately we didn't get to see much of the museum - we arrived 6 minutes before closing (en route from Valdosta) but they still charged us admission ($6.50 I believe)! If you're arriving late in the day, bypass the museum and browse the earthworks for free. Also, there is a cleaning lady there who is a real gem. She's quite an ambassador for the park/camp grounds, and should be the #1 go-to person for information.
