This hotel was a huge disappointment. We have stayed at other Wingates and had great stays. Staff was unfriendly, except for one young lady, and were more occupied with talking to each other or on the phone to friends. Our room was spacious and comfortable, but the bathroom shower was not cleaned properly and had mold growing on the wall. The blanket had spots on it as well. We had many problems with the complimentary breakfast. Warm milk, warm coffee, no serving utensils, broken serving items, staff never observed using sanitary gloves. One morning the gal setting up the breakfast was cleaning the windows and did not wash her hands before heading back to servicing the food items. Plus she removed trash that had piled up on top of the trash can since it was full and again I did not see her wash hands. Another morning, a cereal bowl was spotted with juice and had a hair in it. No ice water available one morning and when ask if any would be provided, the girl stated 'I am only a child' and that my husband was disrespecting her. Well , do your job! Housekeeping usually came about 8:30 in the morning, I felt that was too early. I spoke to one other couple before we checked out and they also agreed this was a poorly run hotel. They also were disappointed. It was very apparent staff had not been properly trained or supervised. We did meet with the Director of Sales and expressed our disappointment. When I booked our stay (from the road) I wanted to stay at the Wingate on the south side of 95 but they were fully booked . This hotel had almost no customers. I counted 7 cars one evening including ours, that was the most I saw. Possibly the word was out on this location. I also have contacted Wingate Hotels with my comments. The Sales Director did seem interested in our comments and appreciated our taking time to let them know. But we should not have had to complain. Attentive management would have prevented these problems.
