Ate dinner here on rainy Sat. night, 12/28/13. Had stopped at Microtel coming back from FL, and asked the clerk for suggestions of a non-chain restaurant. After passing up Longhorn because of a 45 min. wait, (a chain, I know, but we were hungry and saw it first) my hopes went up when we first saw this nice looking restaurant in an old house. The person posting below could not have had the same waitress we had, as the young girl was so welcoming and very helpful when we questioned about food items. Seemed a genuinely cheerful person - I wish I had gotten her name.
My husband was thrilled with the collard green soup and pear salad he got as sides with fried chicken. I got the 4 vegetable plate and could hardly decide there were so many good choices - the dressing and gravy was some of the best dressing I've had at a restaurant, the sweet potato soufflé was to die for! Oh, the little biscuits were a nice touch of the south too. I liked that they offered the small salad as a choice on the vegetable plates.
The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Most of the customers seemed to be locals - how fortunate they are to have such a comfortable place to meet with such good food. We will definitely go out of our way to stop here in the future!
