We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday noon and it was well worth the stop! The fried chicken has been recognized as one of the best places for chicken in the South. The fried green tomatoes is a specialty appetizer that is served with an excellent mustard sauce. Very generous portions and very reasonably priced!

“Fresh food, great value, beautiful setting.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2011

My family was staying in Perry for a reunion. On The Swanson website, both the menu and the Victorian style house where it is located looked inviting. We went there on a Friday night and loved the setting and the southern cooked dishes. We liked it so much that we came back on Saturday night with more of the family! Jasmine took good care of us both nights. We told the clerks at our motel that if visitors asked about a good place to eat, please tell them about The Swanson. See you all next year!

“Hateful staff and food not that great.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2011 via mobile

Ive been in the restaurant business for years and this was the rudest place on earth. Our party of 5 stopped in on our way from Atlanta to Jacksonville. They were busy when we walked in and we gave our name to the man at the cash register who said " i dont need names just a number. I can see the snarles on your faces when you wait to long" really??? This is how you greet people? So we waited 35 minutes to eat and our server was a rood young girl who made you feel like you were gonna get your head ripped off for asking for a refill. I mean eye rolls and all. Our orders wers given and half of them came out wrong and of course she huffed and puffed when we said something. The food was ok and some of it really bland in flavor. She messed up our desert and brought out our cornbread bisquets at the end of the meal. She was outright hateful and made us feel very unwelcome. When we went to pay the man at the register didnt ask how everything was or even say thank you. We left at 2:15 and they closed at 2pm that day so im guessing they were pissed we came in at 12:30 to eat however we were not sat until 1:00. Worst service ever and a hateful staff. Dont exit the highway for this one. Save the trouble and cook at home.

“Lovely suprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2011

Perry was our stop over on our way to TN. We loved to historical setting forcthis lovely restaurant. The food was all homeade & the staff was fabulous. The bread pudding melted in your mouth. Only drawback is when it gets busy, the service suffers due to small staff.
