We have just returned home from a trip to Atlanta Georgia where we stayed at the Ramada Inn Norcross room 116 for six nights (March 18-23). We were unpleasantly surprised.
I have always thought of Ramada Inn as a high end establishment. I was wrong.
First, the carpet in our room was badly stained all over. The high table in the living room was very shaky. It probably just needs some tightening.
The free breakfast was okay, but nothing special. We were particularly struck by the plastic flatware. This has to be the flimsiest, cheapest plastic flatware available. The plastic knives could barely cut through the sausage patties. When I tried to cut through a waffle, the knife didn’t even scratch it.
One night I had to call the front desk because the room thermostat was giving a “low battery” indication. I was told that there was nobody on duty at night who could address the situation. A maintenance man did arrive early the next morning. It seems to me that this is something that the housekeeping staff would check every day.
The worst part was the room key-card. Every single day upon returning to the hotel I had to walk all the way to the front desk to have it re-coded because it would not open the side door near our room. I was given all kinds of excuses by the front desk staff. One told me that I should keep it away from my cell phone because that can erase it. Another said that putting it in my wallet was a bad idea because the credit cards would erase it. I was very careful to avoid these things after I was told about them, but to no avail. Another told me that it was a problem with the lock on the outside door. On our last night there happened to be another guest just inside the door with their room door opened and they let us in to the hallway but the key did not work on my room door and I had to go the the front desk again to have it re-coded. I have stayed at many other hotels and have never had this issue elsewhere.
It has been many years since I stayed in a Ramada Inn. It will be an even longer time until my next visit.
I don't know. We were only in the room to sleep and have breakfast.
